Fantastic East Madeira Tour - It was one of the best tours we had taken. Tour guide Marco was very friendly and polite. He provided a lot of information of the places we were visiting on the journey to the next destination. He also told us about the local culture and how things are run and why. We were given plenty of time on each location. Also, you get to try out the two different types of authentic Poncha drink, very nice indeed (sorry, the drinks are not free). I would highly recommend this tour as it is very reasonable priced for the places you are visiting in a day. Also, a friendly and informative tour guide does make the tour more enjoyable. Well done Marco!!

Wonderful East Madeira tour - Thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful tour. It’s our fourth visit to Madeira and we’d previously done the West tour, Nun’s Valley and a walking tour of Funchal so we just had to do the East tour. Our driver/guide was Marco from Lido Tours and he first took us to the third highest peak in Madeira with some stunning views of the valleys below. We had lunch in Santana, looking at the traditional thatched triangular cottages before moving on above Machico for more incredible coastal views. Marco’s commentary was informative and welcome. The day went quickly and I can’t recommend it enough.

Fantastic trip - great value for money - We were collected from our hotel at 8.45 in the morning and our driver was very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. He always checked we were comfortable and his ongoing commentary all through the day was fantastic. After a quick trip through Camacho we went to one of the highest points in Madeira, Pico Ariero(don’t forget a coat/jumper!) The trip down to the coast was breathtaking, especially along the ‘fruit road’ where every kind of fruit can be seen growing by the road. Some lovely seaside resorts and rum factory visited towards the end of the trip. Would have loved to have spent more time in Porto Cruz near the rum factory and Machico on the beach than Santana which has very little to see other than the traditional houses. A great value trip and would highly recommend. You get a great feel for the history of the island and the people of Madeira. We paid €35 each and only returned to our hotel adter 5pm so a full day trip.

Good value and efficient way to see the best views - A fabulous full day tour. Approximately 9 am to 5pm in a small group with an excellent guide/ driver. We learnt and saw so much with just the right amount of time at each place. We were blessed with good weather so the view points were spectacular. We also loved the traditional poncha house for refreshments and comfort stop plus the traditional houses of Santana. Our driver recommended the best restaurant that was reasonably priced and served snacks and full lunches. My favourite day of our holiday so far.

East of island tour - Wonderful trip around the east of Madeira, lots of stops to see scenery. Stopped at Santana for lunch. Driver was also tour guide, very informative & friendly. Trip was very good value at 30 odd euros each for a 8 hour tour. I would highly recommend this trip.

Fantastic experience - Madeira is a very beautiful island, of volcanic landscapes, cliffs, forests and cachieira. It is a paradise for those who like walking. In 3-7 days it is possible to know the island well. If you have little time, take the full-day excursions from Funchal (East and West).

We recommend Lido Tours! - We had a fantastic 8 hour 'tour of the East' shore excursion with Lido Tours during our cruise in December on Marella Discovery 2. It was so easy to book online and the price was such good value for money. During the day, our guide looked after us so well, giving us interesting information and changing things around during the day to make sure that our whole group were happy and that we made the most of our stop in Funchal. We asked to be dropped off in town rather than back at the ship so we could attend a free concert and see all the pretty lights.

Covers ground, but under whelming. - This tour does cover some ground and is a decent introduction to places you may want to go back to, but I did not feel it was the best way for me to spend the day. It is a lot of van time and there are some interesting stops, but for me, more of an outdoor lover, it was not a great. There were others on the trip that where older and perhaps less energetic and they seemed to enjoy it. It does provide a great way to see the scenery around the Eastern island.

Too little advance... - Too little advance information about what to expect at this time of year. Impossible not to be put your shoes fully in water in some parts. It rained at times with strong winds and cold. I and others were cold. Had to stand to eat lunch despite what guides hd mentioned was an area or hut one could stop at. Returned through tunnel with no lighting and in parts full of water. A very unpleasant experience. Ad for those with ailments suggest those with knee problems and not just back problems be advised not to come.
