The Best of the Best! Look No Further.. - We have been lucky to have travelled quite a lot and used many different guides. We had Spencer from Madeira Inside Out for the day, and I promise, this company ranks highest in the "Best" category. Spencer was friendly, easy-going and super passionate/knowledgeable about the island. He will take you wherever you want, but let him surprise you with some gorgeous and off-the-beaten-path places as well. We had a fantastic day with him - no rushing, no watching the clock, just so much beauty around each corner. Our most vivid memory will be a little off-roading on a rugged mountain trail where he showed his superior driving skills. PLUS their vehicles are very well maintained and super comfortable to ride in.

Awesome private tour of Madeira!! - We booked the private mystery jeep tour for 2. Dinarte picked us up at our hotel right on-time and he couldn’t have been nicer. We discussed the places that we had already been to and the places we really wanted to visit. We also let him know we were very open to anything.
We started with a stop at the Fisherman’s Village (Camara de Lobos Harbour) and then a scenic drive to Nun’s Valley and a stop for coffee and a visit to a small museum. We mentioned that we really wanted to visit and hike Ponta de Sao Lourenco (PR8) and Dinarte made it happen! We stopped for a delicious lunch at Canical and ate at Tesquinha do Pescador— loved it!
He then dropped us off at the trail head for a fabulous 1-hour coastal hike. We took the boat back and he met us at the marina. Loved it!
One final stop at a scenic lookout and watched the planes landing at Madeira’s famous airport.
We truly enjoyed our day with Dinarte and highly recommend this adventure!
Dinarte— we wish you well and much success and happiness. You are an outstanding ambassador for the beautiful people of Madeira.

Madeira Jeep Tour - What a day!!!! Dinart was amazing! Knowledgeable & FUN!! He took us to all the places we wanted to see. We had plenty of time to enjoy each stop. We were 5 on a Girls Trip & highly recommend Insideout for your Madeira adventure!!

Magical Personalised Tour with Madeira Insideout. - Booked the Mystery Tour (Private Jeep for 2 people) as we wanted a personalised tour tailored to the places we wanted to visit. We asked Henrique to devise an itinerary that also included stops for coffee and lunch. He plotted a circular route that included a majority of the old road that truly gave us a sense of the island's volcanic topography. It also included a few off the road surprise adventures where you truly need a 4x4 vehicle. Henrique navigated them effortlessly as his extensive knowledge of the terrain and his experience with 4x4 driving were evident. Henrique shared numerous fascinating stories and facts about the island throughout our journey and his deep knowledge and passion for the island were evident as he pointed out unique flora and fauna, explaining their significance and how they adapted to the island’s environment. Henrique was full of great recommendations for local cuisine and hidden gems. He suggested trying some traditional Madeiran dishes like Espetada (marinated beef skewers), Special Prego (Madeiran Bolo do Caco Wheat Bread with grilled steak, lettuce, tomato, ham and cheese) and Espada (Scabbard Fish Fillets lightly battered served with boiled potatoes and salad).
We did the North West Tour of the island and really enjoyed the whole experience that we ended up booking North East Tour before we good dropped off at the hotel as we knew we knew we were in good hands. Exploring Madeira with Madeira Insideout was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we booked the tour, the customer service was top-notch, ensuring all our preferences were met. Henrique, our guide, was exceptional—knowledgeable, passionate, and incredibly skilled at navigating the island’s diverse terrain. The tours were well-planned, with a perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and breathtaking scenery. Henrique’s stories and insights about the island added depth to our journey and experience, making it both educational and entertaining. The off-road adventures were thrilling, and the hidden spots we visited were truly magical. Exactly as it says on the tin - ‘Madeira Insideout’.

The biggest of thank you’s to Madeira Insideout ! We had the absolute best time with Dinarte !
I do a ton of research before booking anything and was not at all enamoured by the idea of being sardined in a jeep with 5 strangers for 8 hours !
Then I thankfully stumbled on “Madeira Insideout” which instead offers private full day tours. We booked the “mystery tour” due to the excellent reviews we’d read and I can assure you it was the highlight of our vacation.
When Dinarte arrived to pick us up from our hotel, he had a huge smile on his face and this smile and general joy for life continued throughout the day!
Dinarte plans a fantastic itinerary with everything you could wish to see and more. At the start of the trip he also asked if there was anything in particular we wished to do/see ! I wanted to see the Fanal Forest which he had already included in our itinerary for the day.
Madeira is truly a gem, and an incredibly beautiful island. Having Dinarte as our guide we didn’t need to worry about finding places, parking or navigating the extremely windy and narrow mountain roads. We could just relax and focus on the beauty around us.
Dinarte was born in Madeira and the love for his island is infectious. His knowledge is profound - from the stories growing up, that of his family , the history of Madeira or the fauna & flora ! At one point (off the beaten track) within a 3m radius he found us mint leaves, bay leaves, eucalyptus and oregano ! Incredible !
Truth be told, I booked this day trip to get the lay of the land the day after landing in
Madeira. We rented a car for the remaining 4 days. Before the tour had ended my husband and I both agreed that we wanted to do another daytrip with Dinarte ! It was just fun and easy and relaxing and the wealth of knowledge that he shared with us along the way as well as at each destination, we would never had learned or seen that much on our own !
So we booked another day with Dinarte and were treated to so many more beautiful places in Madeira.
Dinarte started our trip as our guide and we ended the trip as friends.
Please don’t hesitate to book with Madeira Insideout ! Truly the absolute highlight of our entire trip to Portugal !

Best Experience on Madeira - We had an absolute fabulous time on this trip. Spencer helped us figure out an amazing itinerary for the day. Although we had a rental car we saw the most amazing parts of Madeira I loved the Porto Munoz pools and the Fanal Forest. Spencer is astute in the islands history and we learned so much about the inhabitants, the history and the areas. I definitely believe this is a must do and this company is top notch.
Tips: Bring close toes shoes for hikes and a towel for swimming if that’s where the journey takes you.
I would 100% come again for another tour when I return to Madeira.

Best Day of the Trip thanks to Madeira Insideout !! - This tour was fantastic! Spencer was our guide and he was extremely friendly, funny and knowledgeable about the island. He could answer every question we asked and also knows a ton about the plants on the island. He was able to base our day around my one request to go swimming in the lava pools - and he took us to the ones in Seixal which were less crowded than the ones at Porto Moniz. It was a great way to see a lot of the island, but we never felt rushed at any stop. I Would definitely recommend booking this tour for the experience of a lifetime.

Best way to explore Madeira - We booked the Mystery Tour because we wanted to be able to tailor our experience according to what we wanted to see and do. Spencer DID NOT disappoint. Before we headed out, we let him know specific places we wanted to visit and gave him an idea of our overall vibe for the day (chill/relaxing/wanting to see vistas of the ocean and mountains, along with getting time to soak up the views). He knew right away what the best route would be and all we had to do was sit back and enjoy the ride. He was great with telling us about the island and its history, while also giving us time to just sit as a couple with a coffee (or glass of Vinho Verde) and take it all in. We would both highly recommend booking the tour! Thank you, Spencer!
