worth the detour and good value - recommended by our hotel and a wonderful full day (9-5) to spend one of the coldest wettest Madeiran days since 1984...we were told
it was a fascinating exploration of the island away from the capital, comfortable coach and a really superb safe driver in Fernando who also kept up a running commentary in Portuguese and English (how one admires people who can joke idiomatically in a non-native language) and who added extras to compensate for the lack of views from the mountains
