Madeira + John = Unforgettable (and We’re Coming Back!) - This private tour of the western side of Madeira was absolutely the highlight of our trip to Portugal! Our guide, John, was fantastic—his deep knowledge of the island and genuine passion for its beauty and history made the day unforgettable. As two women traveling alone, we also felt very safe and comfortable the entire time, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We’re so glad we opted for the private tour—it was truly an unforgettable day, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a personal, authentic experience in Madeira! Book it! Just do it! - Our day with John was incredible! He was a ton of fun and made sure we had a blast too. This tour may be more expensive than some of the group tours, but I promise it is worth it! We had such a fun day seeing the west side of the island that we wanted to book a tour for the East side on our final day, but the weather wasn’t going to cooperate unfortunately. When we return to Madeira we will definitely be booking with John again!

Two fabulous days - We spent two wonderful days exploring the island with Madeira Off-Road Tours. John, our driver was great fun and very knowledgeable about the history and botany of the island. He took us to where we could see fabulous views, sample the islands liquors and eat our lunch in two wonderful restaurants over looking the sea. We went up and down very steep and, at times, hair-raising tracks but felt very safe with John. Nothing was too much trouble. My husband usually does all the driving when we go on holiday, so it was lovely for him to be able to relax and really enjoy the scenery in the hands of a very experienced local driver, negotiating the many hairpin bends and narrow roads with ease. Thank you John for making our holiday in Madeira such a memorable and enjoyable one. 'Yahoo!'

Excellent tours of East and West side of Madeira - We had the most wonderful time in Madeira thanks to John, our guide. We booked the tour for 2 days, one for the east side of the island and one for the west side. We were fortunate to have John as our guide for both days. He was very informative and made the trip even more
enjoyable with his sense of humor. Miguel and John went out of their way to accommodate our requests. We would definitely recommend this company.

Perfect way to see the island - John gave us the best day of our holiday in Madeira. We had an amazing time in the Jeep exploring the East side of the island. He has many interesting facts and anecdotes on the island and we would definitely do it again when we return next year and go for the West side.

West and East Coast Private Tours - We did two private tours with Madeira Off Road Tours and enjoyed both! We loved going off the beaten path away from the crowds with John and Miguel. They were great with accommodating our daughter who had mobility issues and planning custom itineraries. The restaurant that John recommended in Porto Moniz was very good and had amazing views.

Fantastic experience - We have just returned from Madeira and have done 3 different tours with this company.
Tour west by day in 2 exclusive jeeps for our family group. Stunning landscapes of Madeira and the friendliness of our guides Ruben and Diego. An unforgettable and fun day.
Tour Caldeirao Verde with Miguel, who accompanied us all the way.
Spectacular greenery and a beautiful walk. All out of ten.
Half day tour with Diego and John.
Very fun 4x4 tours and beautiful visits.
A highly recommended company.
We'll go back to Madeira and meet again.

Fantastic, breathtaking, tailored experience - Fantastic form start to finish. John picked us up on time, talked through the options highlighting stress of interest on the map before we selected our route
John was informative, engaging and entertaining throughout the whole day. It was great to have the whole Jeep to ourselves, it made for a truly tailored experience.
Loads of breathtaking views despite the best efforts of the weather in the afternoon.
Thoroughly recommend this tour and would happily do it again.

Absolutely fabulous!!!!! - Many reviews we saw mentioned John as an excellent tour guide & we were fortunate enough to have him too, although other guides get good reviews too. He is a local who is clearly passionate about his home & keen to show it to you. He gave some guidance on the itinerary but was also willing to be flexible. He could also tailor in the way when encountering say more other tourists than expected so that didn’t feel we were wasting any time. The ability to veer off the main goad & go up/down some quite hair raising inclines was fun, still felt safe, and cut off a lot of road time. We had a full 8 hour tour and felt that we managed to see a lot of the West side of the island in that time. Thoroughly recommended, even by the three teenagers we have who are not easily pleased!
