Steady walk and scenery was great. - Steady walk with some great views, 5k, no trouble at all. Make sure you keep your eyes on the path, some very steep, fantastic drops on your right as you start. Drive up there was very scenic, again, drops to the side. Guide was very nice and informative. 👍🏻👏🏻

A must for Travellers of all fitness levels - I found this company really easy to deal with. They were able to steer us to an easy Levada walk to begin our experience in the Madeira mountains; and, they were able to accommodate a last minute necessary re-schedule of same. We had a lovely half day trek through amazing landscape in the company of our lovely mountain guide, Rubi, who gave us lots of info as we went along. Amazed at the ingenuity of farming in the uplands, we even met some very generous local ladies on their lunchbreak, who treated us to some of their freshly picked plums. On the way back to base we enjoyed a very pleasant stop off at a bakery/cafe for a bonus cuppa with freshly baked pastries. If I can do it, you can too. Well worth the price.

Easy, informative walk - We booked to go on the Serra D’Agua walk in December but had to cancel due to illness. The company was very accommodating and transferred our booking to April. We met at the office and driven by Marco to the start of the walk. Our guide, Benny, was excellent. Walked at a steady pace. Stopped to explain flora and fauna, stunning views of the island and an area we haven’t visited before. We stopped for coffee and pastries at the end of the walk at a beautiful bakery … and no souvenirs! Benny was chatty and friendly throughout. A really enjoyable morning.

A wonderful scenic walk. - A wonderful trip lead by a lovely guide, Elaina. The trip is well organised by Lido tours who send you good communication / emails. Everything went to plan and kept to the specified timings. They provide good transport and the journey is about 30 mins into the mountains ….you get to see a bit of the area in the bus there and back. The walk was beautiful, forest, open sea views and mountains and valleys. It is an easy flat walk at a relaxed pace stopping to look at the trees and plants on route, with Elaina explaining much about the Levada , plants , trees, local area and history . So it was very educational . Just loved it ! We stopped for coffee and a cake at a local bakery , delicious Maderian custard tart and also the local shop to buy Madeira cake and sweets. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and highly recommend Lido Tours.

A most interesting outing - Booked through Viator and operated by Lido Tours. I deliberately chose an "easy" walk , and indeed it was. The total time taken is about four hours, of which the actual levada walk itself is only two hours. The rest of the time goes between driving to the starting point and coming back to your hotel from the end point where the van which drops you goes and waits. There is also a restaurant cum loo stop on the way which takes about 20 to 25 minutes. The van was half an hour late at my hotel, no explanation or apology offered. There were already about 12 people in the van and three of us joined at my hotel. The drive to the start point of the walk took about twenty or twenty five minutes. The young woman guide led the way along the trail which runs right alongside the narrow levada or irrigation channel, ( with continuously flowing water ) and the walking path itself is very narrow in places, about a foot and a half, and you need to be particularly careful that you do not topple off the edge, though the drop on this walk is not more than six feet at any time. Still, you could get injured. In a few places it was also muddy and slippery. The views of the surrounding valley is spectacular The walk took place at a gentle pace, and the guide was able to point out to us some of the flora, mainly bamboo, african lily, deadly nighshade, hydrangea, eucalyptus, passion fruit, potato , dizzy lizzy, mimosa, a few apple trees ( not edible, can be used only for cider ), banana plantations, rural housing, a couple of cows and dogs. The only mammalian wild life is apparently rabbits, but none spotted, and surprisingly no birds were spotted at all ! The sound of a church bell pealing over the otherwise silent valley was beautiful at a point during the walk. The cafe had clean toilets.

Levada walk cut short! - Loved the levada. However, the walk was cut short by a road race and the alternate route was more challenging than we expected. The guide was entertaining but not all that attentive to the clients.

easy, level walk - a very easy, level walk. Nice guide who was very informative but ultimately it was a bit expensive for a quite short and not very interesting walk.

Do this, if you have plenty of time or start with this walk before visiting other levadas - Maybe this is really the most beautiful 5 Km of levada altogether, but definitely not in September. We did this walk after couple of other levada walks and during the first couple of Km we were totally disappointed - sparse vegetation, dried out and mostly abandoned small gardens on hillsides, abandoned houses, corpses of dead rats floating in levada... Only the second part of levada was really nice.
