Additional Information

A tour of the lofty peaks of the Great Smoky Mountains can be a memory that stays with you for a long time. We journey beyond the Appalachian Trail, traversing the Ridge of the Smokies while admiring the views from elevations exceeding 5000 ft. Your guide will enrich your understanding of the region with tales from Native American heritage and geographical trivia. Our travel proceeds into the North Carolina portion of the National Park, where we appreciate panoramic views and explore the legacy of logging in this area. You’ll be astonished by the natural rejuvenation of the forest over time. Our aim is to reach the Clingmans Dome parking lot and souvenir shop, which is situated at the park’s summit at an altitude of 6,643 feet. Weather permitting, an additional brief stroll through the spruce-fir woodlands would offer insights into this distinctive ecosystem.

Great overview of the Smokies - Tour guide, Shannon, was a great source of information. She shared about her personal achievements completing the Appalachian trail, and gave great facts about the park and the stops we made. They provided snacks and water. (Well appreciated on a hot day.) We had a great time. There's not enough time to hike up the Clingmans Dome but enough time to explore the area and visit the shop. Shannon was very helpful in taking our pictures at every stop. Just wish the tour was longer. Highly recommended.

It was nice to relax and let someone else drive!! - Our guide was wonderful and informative. She took the time to answer questions and gave everyone plenty of time to see the outdoors. Advise: take the morning tours. Way less public traffic on the roads.
