Hiking the Smokies with Luci – Where Science Meets Surprise! - If you're looking for an unforgettable hike through the Smoky Mountains, book a trek with Luci—the retired science teacher-turned-trail whisperer we never knew we needed! From the moment we hit the trail, Luci had us all hooked with her encyclopedic knowledge of the forest. Within minutes, we were identifying edible plants like pros and side-eyeing anything that looked like it might try to poison us (thanks, Luci!). But the real icing on the cake? A black bear sighting! Luci calmly guided us through the moment like the seasoned science-safari queen she is—no panic, just pure excitement (and a perfectly timed bear safety lesson). If you love nature, nerdy facts, and the occasional wildlife thrill, Luci’s hike is the Smokies experience you didn’t know you needed. 11/10 would follow her into the woods again.

Great family hike! - Amazing time on this hike! Lucy, our tour guide is a retired science teacher, is passionate about the Smoky Mountains and very knowledgeable about the environment. We had a great time learning about the plant life, animals, etc. and we encountered a black bear during the hike which was super cool. All in all, I highly recommend this guided hike.

Nature Hike in Gatlinburg with Luci! - My wife and I enjoyed the roughly 3 hour pace, level of difficulty (101, pretty easy), and nature education Luci provided us with. She was very knowledgeable and personable. Felt like we’d known her for years at the end of the hike. Highly recommend for novice who would benefit from a teacher.

Just the right combination of beauty and hiking - The small group experience was perfect and the length of the hike was a relaxing amount. The views were gorgeous and China was a great guide with a kind personality and entertaining knowledge.

Thundering Cascades and Falls Tour – An Unforgettable Experience with China - I can’t recommend the Thundering Cascades and Falls tour with Walk in the Woods highly enough—and having China as our guide made it absolutely unforgettable. From the start at Sugarlands Visitor Center to the quieter, less-traveled trails, this hike was a perfect mix of scenic beauty and discovery. China was incredible. Her knowledge of the Smokies was deep, but it was her curiosity and enthusiasm that made the day truly special. We were hoping to spot salamanders, and she was all in—carefully lifting rocks, gently searching along stream edges, and pointing out snails, millipedes, and anything else she could find. Every small discovery was met with such joy, it was impossible not to feel that same wonder. As a photographer, I tend to stop often, and China was incredibly patient, always making sure I had time to get the shot without ever feeling rushed. Her energy, care, and genuine love for the natural world made this tour stand out. If you have the chance to hike with her—take it!

A beautiful hike! - China was great! We hiked, learned a lot and because it was a small group, got individual attention. We were lucky. It was a beautiful day, and five senior ladies enjoyed it very much, even though it was a little challenging for us. We got within two miles of the appalachian trail, and china explained what the actual trail looked. A win!

Moderate hike with views - Great hike. Moderate level uphill. China was great with information about flora and fauna. The only downside was no waterfalls…
