Izmir - Upon arrival at Izmir Airport or Kusadasi/Cesme Port, a guide will greet you with a name sign to assist with your transfer to the hotel. Your room card will be provided, and the remainder of the day is free for you to explore Izmir. Overnight stay in Izmir.

Pergamum - Thyatira - Izmir

Izmir - After breakfast, the journey begins to Pergamum, now known as Bergama, one of the Seven Churches of Asia [Rev. 1:11; 2:12]. Explore the impressive Acropolis, home to the steepest theatre in the world, and the Asklepion, a renowned medical center of classical times. See the Altar of Zeus, referred to as the “Throne of Satan” in the book of Revelation, and the marble columns of the Temple of Trajan. Visit the Red Basilica (St. John’s Church) before continuing to Thyatira, now Akhisar, another of the Seven Churches of Asia. Enjoy a panoramic view of Smyrna, Turkey’s third-largest city, also one of the Seven Churches of Asia. Ascend Mount Pagus to visit the Citadel of Lysimachus, a commander under Alexander the Great, built in the 4th century BC, and see the Clock Tower. Check in at the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Izmir.

Izmir - Sardis - Philadelphia - Laodicea - Hierapolis

Pamukkale - Sardis, now Sart, was the capital of the ancient Lydian kingdom in the 6th century BC, depicted as a dying church. Visit the great Temple of Artemis and the Temple of Cybele, which became a Byzantine Church. Explore the restored gymnasium and reconstructed Synagogue, and see the last few meters of the royal Persian Road from Susa to Sardis, built by Cyrus the Great, and the “golden” river Pactolus. Continue to Philadelphia, now Alasehir, and drive to the healing city of Hierapolis, now Pamukkale, the white “cotton fortress” where hot mineral water cascades over steep cliffs forming pools, channels, and stalactites. Visit the Martyrium of the Apostle Philip. Proceed to Laodicea to see the Gate of Domitian, the Arcadian Way, the 2nd century AD Theatre, the Nymphaeum, the Temple of Apollo, the Plutonium, and the Necropolis. Check in at the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Pamukkale.

Ephesus - Kusadasi

Kusadasi - Travel to Ephesus to explore the ancient city, including the Basilica of St. John. The Apostle Paul preached to the Ephesians and lived here for three years, and this church received an epistle from him. Tour the spectacular ruins where excavations continue in this once great and important city, founded in the 10th century BC. Visit the Temple of Artemis, Ephesus ancient sites, and the Virgin Mary. Walk through history along marble streets lined with magnificent public buildings, including the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian, and the Theatre. The Temple of Diana of the Ephesians, another of the seven wonders of the ancient world, was built here. Visit the Basilica of St. John and The House of Virgin Mary. Overnight stay in Kusadasi.

Izmir - End of Tour
