Welcome to Merlin’s Magic Academy!
As apprentice Witches & Wizards, your final and greatest challenge awaits you. To become a true graduate of the academy you must unlock the secrets of the room, create enchanted potions, solve mystical puzzles and use real wands to cast spells with the help of a rather mysterious guide.
You must harness your magic to find the mythical beast that lies deep within the academy. Only then can you graduate as Master Witches & Wizards and use your new found magical powers for the good of all!
Perfect for those new to escape rooms, Merlin’s Magic Academy is our most enchanting and family-friendly room, inspired by (but not affiliated with) the likes of Harry Potter, BBC’s Merlin and The Worst Witch!

moviESCAPE Stockport is located on the Ground Floor of Welkin Mill in Bredbury, Stockport, less than 10 minutes drive from the M60 (Junction 26 or 27).
The postcode is SK6 2BH, please follow Welkin Road all the way to the end and then turn right to enter the Welkin Mill car park.

Top notch - Booked this for a 10th birthday, 4 children and us two adults
Hosts were amazing! Aesthetics fantastic! Game play very clever 10/10. We escaped and the children had a great time. Booked as a party package so used the party room, staff set up the space for us with our table cloths and balloons etc. Quality food. Great drinks selection. I cannot fault this place. Worth every penny and a day to remember 😁

Great Experience. - A really enjoyable experience. Among the best of escape rooms we have visited. Amber our host was great - we needed some help/tips but felt it still challenged us. The room build was good and added to the experience. There is a cafe for refreshments and pockets for belongings to be kept safe. Would definitely recommend and will go back to try other themes.

Fantastic escape room! - This is the best escape room EVER! We did Merlins academy and loved every minute! Excellent and fun puzzles to solve and Jasper (our guide) was fabulous! There is a lovely coffee area with fun games for sale. DEFINITELY recommend to everyone! We will 100% be back again!

Great Merlin's Academy party - We booked the Merlin's Academy room for my daughter's 11th birthday party with her friends and were really impressed with the whole experience. They all loved putting on their cloaks and solving the puzzles in the room with a little help from our host. The details in the room were great and it made a perfect party.
The food after was really good too. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Brilliant escape room - We did Merlin's magician academy with our 12 year old. The puzzles were really good, the atmosphere was brilliants and our host gave us good hints when we got stuck. We will be going back for more rooms.

Great fun, would recommend - Had an amazing time today doing Merlin's Magic Academy, our first ever escape room. The host and staff were really friendly during our visit.
Our escape room was dimly lit which helped create the atmosphere and the gargoyle helper was indeed a great help as we needed a few tips and clues along the way!
Would definitely recommend as a family experience, great fun. We will be back!

Merlin's Academy GREAT FOR KIDS - Just did this yesterday with my twins and two of their friends, all 9 years old, for a birthday party. What a great time. This one is not too difficult for children with some adult supervision. The atmosphere is great and there are a lot of challenges to mentally exhaust you.
There is help from an ethereal gargoyle which the kids used a lot. The one thing was the lighting is a bit low to read if your eyesight isn't great but after me saying it a few times, and louder, magically Merlin turned up the lighting!!!!
I won't spoil what the reveals are but I would recommend this for kids. There were iz of us (2 adults and 4 kids) and it can accommodate 8 in total.
It sounds like a lot of money but I think it is about right for what you pay for.

Staff friendly but too dark to see, improve the lighting please...could be so much better with small adjustments - The staff were friendly and the pre-escape video introduction was professionally done. We did the Merlin escape room. It's set in a medieval castle but low lighting levels really spoilt the experience, made it very difficult to see. The staff said in other escape rooms they provide torches. The candle nightlights were inadequate. I would suggest since it's a magic theme, wands with illuminated torch ends would have helped a lot? One of the clues has been physically removed that was supposed to be fixed to the wall. One of the locks didn't work properly. The helper was speaking with a Gargoyle voice but was very difficult to understand; plus communication was only possible in one room, so this did not work very well. I suggest the cctv/ helper's communication facility should be extended to cover all areas. Rooms were very bare, too many locks. Some maintenance money needs to be spent to ensure a better customer experience. I have enjoyed other escape rooms much more. Such a pity, I was really looking forward to this, would not recommend personally atm. With improvements especially to lighting and communication it could be a much better experience.
