Penang Island - Cameron Highlands (Recommended Hotel: Cameron Resort)
Cameron Highlands - At 8am, enjoy a complimentary pick-up from your Penang hotel by an English-speaking guide. Journey to the Cameron Highlands, where tea plantations are a major attraction. Savor tea at an elevated café with stunning views of the lush, rolling hills. Take a leisurely stroll for photo opportunities. The tea plantations collaborate with WWF to protect endangered animals. Visit the Butterfly Farm to see live stick insects, scorpions, snakes, beetles, and rare, beautiful butterflies fluttering among fragrant flowers. The Vegetable Market offers a fascinating experience with fresh flowers, fruits, and vegetables grown in the Camerons. Some farmers focus on organic farming to cater to niche markets. Also, explore the Cactus Gardens. Check into your hotel and enjoy some free time.
Cameron Highlands - Rainforest Taman Negara (Recommended Hotel: Xcape Resort)
Taman Negara National Park - Taman Negara, a 130-million-year-old tropical rainforest, is home to tigers, elephants, tapirs, pythons, 14,000 flowering plants, 300 bird species, and indigenous communities. Depart the Camerons at 7am for Taman Negara and trek to Bukit Terisek, the viewpoint offering breathtaking views of Gunung Tahan. Then, take a boat ride through rushing waters to reach an indigenous village. The women are shy, and the men “disappear” only to return with fire-making and blowpipe hunting tools for a “native” demonstration. The rainforest serves as their supermarket. Continue trekking to a rainforest waterfall for a refreshing dip, known as a therapeutic stress reliever. Enjoy a complimentary local lunch at the Floating Café. Check in and relax. At 7pm, embark on a Night Jungle Walk to spot spiders, mouse deer, scorpions, snakes, and observe nocturnal animals at their salt lick. Bring a flashlight with extra batteries and a raincoat.
Taman Negara - Kuala Lumpur (Recommended Hotel: Traders Hotel @ KLCC)
Kuala Lumpur City Gallery - Depart for Kuala Lumpur at 8am, with a bonus stop at the Elephant Sanctuary (subject to availability). Visit the iconic Batu Caves and climb 272 steps to the temple, where devotees express gratitude for fulfilled vows. Ladies should cover their knees and shoulders. Explore colonial landmarks such as Independence Square, Sultan Abdul Samad Building, St Mary’s Cathedral, Jamek Mosque, Little India, and Chinatown. Enjoy a complimentary Banana Leaf Lunch before being dropped off at your hotel. Relax and explore at your leisure.
At 5pm, depart for Kuala Selangor, home to the world’s largest firefly colony. Travel through rural roads and, after a delicious seafood dinner, take a boat ride to witness the fireflies’ dazzling mating ritual. The boatman navigates through mangrove trees, creating a spectacle of lights reminiscent of a Christmas tree. It’s a sight to behold. Return to your hotel by 9pm, marking the end of the tour.
