Highlights
  • Mecklenburg-West Pomerania - On your journey from Rostock to Berlin, you’ll traverse the region known as the land of 1000 lakes, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. You’ll catch glimpses of many lakes from the road, along with vibrant yellow rape fields (in May and June). The transfer takes about 2 hours.
  • Charlottenburg Palace - Upon entering Berlin, your first stop will be Charlottenburg Palace, where your guide will join you. This palace, the most stunning built by the Hohenzollern family, is named after Sophie Charlotte, the wife of Frederick I, who was crowned King in Prussia in 1800.
  • Kurfurstendamm - Kurfürstendamm is the world’s largest boulevard. It was the hub of Berlin’s nightlife during the roaring 1920s and the main shopping street in West Berlin. Today, it is a popular spot for both tourists and Berliners to dine, have coffee, shop, watch a play, or simply stroll.
  • Kaufhaus des Westens (KaDeWe) - KaDeWe is the largest department store in continental Europe and arguably the most exquisite. During your Berlin tour, you can choose a couple of longer stops, and this could be one of them.
  • Topography of Terror - This site offers several points of interest: the former SS and Gestapo headquarters, now a memorial and documentation center, and an original section of the Berlin Wall.
  • Checkpoint Charlie - Known worldwide, Checkpoint Charlie was the border crossing where Allied soldiers could move between West and East Berlin. Once the site of a standoff between US and Soviet tanks, today it features a replica guardhouse and the sign “You are now leaving the American Sector.”
  • The Holocaust Memorial - Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe - This poignant memorial by Peter Eisenmann is one of Berlin’s highlights, located next to the Brandenburg Gate and the US Embassy.
  • Potsdamer Platz - This area once marked the division between East and West Berlin. Once a wasteland, it is now a bustling center of Berlin, filled with high-rise hotels, movie theaters, and shops.
  • Gendarmenmarkt - A picturesque square flanked by the French and German domes, with Schinkel’s 19th-century theater building at its center.
  • Reichstag Building - The Reichstag is where Hitler rose to power, but a fire destroyed much of it just weeks later, leaving it unused during the Third Reich. This made it an ideal choice for the seat of the German parliament after 1990. If you wish to visit the roof, please inform us in advance so we can reserve a time slot (you will need to provide your full name, date of birth, and bring ID).
  • Brandenburg Gate - Germany’s most iconic landmark, known for Hitler’s torchlight parade, the Berlin Wall’s death strip, and Reagan’s famous “Tear down this Wall” speech.
  • Alexanderplatz - Travel along Unter den Linden, passing the Opera, the New Guard House, and the New Humboldt Forum (rebuilt Hohenzollern Palace) to reach Alexanderplatz, a large square featuring Germany’s tallest building, the TV tower.

Private tour Warnemünde - My parents and I took a Baltic Cruise which stops at Warnemünde, we’d like to go to Berlin for sightseeing, but my dad is 82, it’s not practical to go with big tour group. Luckily we found Jo’s team. The arrangement was hassle free, from the picking up from the port to the guided tour in the city, every detail was perfect. Our driver and guide were both professional and knowledgeable. We had great time there. Thank you 😊

Excellent guide - Our driver picked us up from our cruise port in Warnemunde perfectly on time, and our guide Luca met us as soon as we reached Berlin. He was very well informed, and managed to show us all the important places in the city even in the few hours we had there.

Great shore excursion tour - Warnemuende (Berlin) was one of the stops on our nine day Baltic cruise, so we decided to book a tour through A Friend in Berlin. Our group of 21 people spoke Chinese, so Cuiha was the perfect guide to help us navigate through the city. We were picked up and dropped of from the port in a timely manner, with plenty of time to spare before our ship departed. Overall, we really enjoyed the tour and recommend it to anyone making a stop in Berlin!
