A True Historian - Our tour with Ted Hirt was nothing short of outstanding. Ted brings Civil War Gettysburg to life because of his incredible depth of knowledge. With every sweep of his hand pointing toward landmarks in the countryside or modern buildings that stand where historic ones once did, the stories of the battle unfolded vividly before us. Ted’s tour was the first of our weekend, and it set the tone for everything that followed. On every subsequent tour, we found ourselves returning to insights he had shared. He even recommended we attend a live-action program featuring townspeople’s perspectives from the battle, and it was clear that Ted was completely at home in both the academic and theatrical sides of history. Incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate, Ted Hirt is a true historian who makes history come alive.

Fantastic and informative. Robust information that was well researched and expertly delivered! - Karen was very knowledgeable, admitted that it was her first time doing this tour and I was the only guest. She did a fantastic job and was able to answer all of my questions as well as engage in an enjoyable dialogue regarding history. Appreciated her taking the time she did to explain facts about each site and some little know tid bits of history. Would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a change from the battle and those who really want to understand the importance of the “pub” during the 18 and 19th centuries.

Amazing Tavern Tour Guide - Brad was an amazing tour guide! His stories about Gettysburg were very engaging. We learned so much about the town and the war. We didn’t want the tour to end and would gladly book again.

Nothing special - It was ok. We didn’t see any historical taverns, only places where they had been. Our tour guide was just reading from a notebook. I thought we would at least visit 1 old authentic tavern. It was basically a walk around the traffic circle

Disappointed - Disappointed the stories were not more related to the people of the Cicil War. It was more about the town of Gettysburg. Maybe I read the description wrong, but it was not what I thought it would be.
