Highlights
  • Gettysburg Heritage Center - A visit to the Gettysburg Battlefield is not complete without stopping at the Gettysburg Heritage Center Museum.
  • Mark Nesbitt’s Ghosts of Gettysburg Candlelight Walking Tours - Today’s stories are brought to you by Mark Nesbitt, who is the first to create ghost walking tours in Gettysburg. Based on his own frightening experiences living in Gettysburg for over thirty years and the ghost stories told to him by the people who actually experienced them, these stories combine town history with the mystery of the spirit world.
  • Seminary Ridge - The first day’s fighting of the three-day battle was over, it had swirled across the farm fields to the west, north, and east of the Pennsylvania Crossroads town.
  • Battle of Gettysburg First Shot Marker - Welcome to a historic Gettysburg and the Ghosts of Gettysburg battlefield tour. This tape will take you on an incredible journey to the sites on the Gettysburg battlefield where mysterious and unexplainable happenings have occurred.

The battlefield and roads are open from thirty minutes before sunrise to thirty minutes after sunset.

This is not a night activity. Be sure to complete this tour by sunset. Some parts of the tour go through the battlefield which closes at sunset.

This 10+ mile-long tour covers the essentials of Gettysburg Ghost in 2-3 hours.

  • Schmucker Hall - Schmucker Hall, or old dorm, saw its share of horrors during and after the battle, it was appropriated for use as one of the first hospitals on July 1st.

  • Little Round Top - Just as our logic is sometimes fooled by the unexplainable sights and sounds of decades past. Is it possible that whoever or whatever it is that creates these images could be fooled by our presence?
  • The George Weikert Farm - Her roommate traveled frequently in her job for the National Park Service and she was alone in the house watching television one night. The drone of the TV had gone on for a while when she was suddenly aware of another noise in the house beside the TV.

  • Eisenhower National Historic Site - The fields to the right of your vehicle are part of the Eisenhower farm. President Dwight David Eisenhower, supreme commander of allied forces during the invasion of Europe in World War- 2, chose a battlefield upon which to retire in 1961 after his presidency.
  • Codori Farm - The Codori house in Gettysburg stood virtually in the middle of the site of some of the worst carnage in American history. In about 40 minutes of marching over the lush fields and fighting across the now famous stonewall.
  • Pickett’s Charge - West Confederate Avenue runs along Seminary Ridge, the main Confederate battle line on July 2nd, and 3rd the cannons and monuments marked the positions of Confederate units long gone now from Gettysburg and from this earth all around you as you drive is now peaceful field men died slowly.

Additional Information

Gettysburg is one of the most haunted locations in the United States, plagued by almost 150 years of intense paranormal activity. The hauntings in Gettysburg are the stuff of legends and are widely known throughout the rest of the country. This little town was the site of the bloodiest and arguably most important battle in the Civil War, which turned the tide toward Union forces. However, both sides of the battle took enormous losses, and it’s estimated that anywhere between 46,000 and 51,000 men were wounded, killed, or went missing during the three-day battle. These are the true stories of eerie encounters experienced by visitors to the battlefield.

Fun and smart way to explore the battlefield - Very easy to use and directions were simple to follow. It took a minute to figure out how it worked but after we got to the first location it started on its own. This tour was excellent because it combined the historical significance of the locations around Gettysburg, but also wove in stories of hauntings and creepy stories. This was a way to do the history tour without too much of the war and battle explanations, which aren’t everyone’s thing. I liked how it instructed you to park and then just stopped playing until you’re driving at a new location. We got to go the entire way at our own pace and explore when we wanted to. WAY better than a guided walking tour in the summer heat!!

The overall awe of the... - The overall awe of the tour. Prior to this trip I have previously visited Gettysburg at least a dozen times. Never before had I utilized a tour guide per se. The trip was very informative and professionally put together. I am now going to explore the evening/night tours.

Good overview of the battlefield - I knew nothing of the battlefield before this tour. I had NO IDEA it was so large! I live near Yorktown, Virginia and just always assumed going there would be like going to Yorktown. It was very different. The self-guided driving tour was a great intro for me and took us all over the battlefield. It has piqued my interest to learn more. There was history mixed with the ghost stories, which I absolutely loved. We only had one day to spend in Gettysburg and this was a nice, interesting way to please all members of the family.

Fun tour different than the ‘only history’ tours - My daughter loved this tour. The stories of the ghosts of Gettysburg were fascinating. The tour got a little jarbled when we got around Devils Den and our location wasn’t accurate, but otherwise, it was fun!

Give It A Go - It was a good tour that was very informative. Sometimes it did get a little hooky but all in all well worth it.

Eh - What worked was nice. And we saw parts we hadn’t earlier. However, the download was confusing to use and the map didn’t really follow the numbers so we missed 1/2 of it maybe.

For $15 not a too bad little history lesson. - We purchased the tour online for our visit to Gettysburg. When we got started the highlighted map on the phone, via the app, would not display, via CarPlay, on my Jeeps screen. When we did get going there were a couple of places where a story was started and not told to pull over anywhere. When we stopped at R.E. Lees monument, listened to the story we were never told to resume. We did on our own. There were 2 places where getting back on track was a bit confusing, one was at the new dorms and the other was leaving devils den and turning at wheat field rd. The Battlefield closes at Sunset, not 10:00pm as your info says.

Not worth your time - Narrator was okay. We had a hard time getting started with the directions given. We fell this tour should not be named Ghosts of the battlefield.

Needs some work - The driving directions need some major work. For example it would tell us to turn left from the parking lot and then nothing else. After experiencing these a few times we just deleted the app. A few stories and sites we actually made it to was interesting and informative
