Good experience - When you first get in, the water is SO cold but you get used to it pretty quickly. Once we got started, the wait was not all that long. It was a great experience. We went into the temple next door afterwards; that was cool. If you get a chance, go into the temple during a prayer.

Guided tour at Tirta Empul Temple - We were met by our tour guide at the entrance which was really helpful. Our tour guide was KOMANG and he taught us so much about Hindu culture and tradition. He took the time to explain everything and help guide us through the holy water ritual. As a bonus he also got some great photos and videos for us of our tour. We were very glad to have KOMANG as a tour guide he was super friendly and we found it very helpful.

Dewa was amazing! - This was amazing, my guide was Dewa. Firstly, I strongly suggest using a guide when you experience this otherwise you really are lost on how to go about the ritual. There are certain fountains you are not meant to use due to being restricted for certain ceremonies, and we saw a girl just go under them. You also just do not go under the water - there is a process of cleansing that they walk you through and some fountains you cleanse for one things vs another which you do via prayer (they have a solution if you aren't religious - like me!). Dewa took the time to explain everything and even took some amazing photos/videos (I'm talking camera moves etc). There is a prayer at the start which Dewa walks you through step by step. Then we took a walk around the temple to another area and got some information. Honestly, get yourself a guide and I can't recommend Dewa enough! Please, also remember to tip your guides!

Amazing experience! - The guide Botak was very nice and helpful! First he shared some information about the temple and the ceremony itself and guided me through it. He enhanced the whole experience by his soothing energy. After the ceremony we had a walk around the temple and he shared more detailed about Balinese culture. This experience will stay very close to my heart!

Spiritual oasis for cleansing the soul - Blissful experience Went early in the morning - which resulted in a very small crowd of 6 people including my partner and I in the temple. It was so peaceful, quiet and incredibly spiritual.

A must visit - We drove from Ubud in about an hour for our visit and took part in the water purification ceremony. Far too many , mainly young people, were there treating it as a photo op. You change from the sari/sarong provided into a green sari/sarong , offer up a prayer and then queue up before entering the pleasantly cold water. There were 13 sacred water spouts, of which you went from no. 2 to no. 10 and then no. 13. You then moved to a second section where you went to the first sacred water spout only. The procedure was to offer up a prayer in front of each sacred water spout, then splash water onto your face and finally put your head under the water spouting from the sacred spout. A very moving and memorable expedience.
