A perfect private tour to Gibraltar - A very professional, smooth and reliable tour from Malaga to Gibraltar in a private limousine accompanied with an experienced tour guide, David. Our expectations were well met. This sure beats sitting in a big bus picking up people from various hotels and taking them back in the evening. The lenght of 8 hours was just perfect for our purposes.

Rock of Gibraltar - This was an amazing private excursion from the Port of Malaga. Our private guide and bus driver met us at the port and transferred us to the border of Gibraltar where our guide arranged for us to take the Taxi tour to the Nature reserve which is essentially the “Rock of Gibraltar.” This was a little confusing at first, but once you see the road up/down to the top of the Rick you understand that the driving should only be done by experts. Our tour stopped at the top from where we could see across the Straits to Africa, St. Michael’s Caves, the feeding area for the Barbery Apes (and yes, they will jump in and on your van), and the WWII Tunnels. At the end of the tour our driver dropped us off in town where we met our tour guide. We had plenty of time to wander around town to shop and enjoy a lunch before heading back to the ship. All in all it was a wonderful day filled with unique experiences.

Shopping trip from San Pedro - We did not take the full tour but just took the shopping trip which took us all the way onto the island. We the took a local bus to Europa Point which is the most southernly point of Europe where you can look across the sea and see Africa. The bus only cost £1.50 return each and you get a good view of the island and docks as it is quite a long way. You can spend both Euros and UK money but you get your change in Gibraltar Pounds and coins which you can't spend in the UK. There is no purchase tax on cigarets and drink and other items which makes it a very popular shopping place but you are limited as to what you can take back. The main town has a lot of historic buildings and still has the old red post and phone boxes so it is a bit like going back in time. You come across well preserved cannons all over the place. After going through the customs you have to walk or drive across the only runway for the flights to and from the island which in itself is quite a unique experience. You can take tours to see the apes and also go into the World War 2 tunnels but we didn't.

A nice way to get to Gibraltar with a large group. - This tour was helpful in navigating the trip to Gibraltar from Malaga. But I wish the tour company would have been more forthcoming in their description of what this really is. It is simply a drive to Gibraltar with some stops along the way for pictures and some narration of the area. But once you cross into Gibraltar, you have a choice. You can either pay for a tour of the Rock (to see the fortress, caves, and monkeys) with an official Gibraltar guide (approx. $250 for a family of 6) or try to walk yourself (not recommended). The guide you have for this tour cannot be the guide on the Rock itself as Gibraltar does not allow that. After you come back from the Rock tour, your guide meets you back in the City center and there isn't much to see after that. I appreciated the help with our large group (we had 9 total) and the private transportation so we could all drive together. And it was helpful to have someone show us how to get across the border to the tour office. And our guide, Oliver, was really nice. But I wouldn't do this one again.

A rip-off - We spent two weeks in Spain and did several Viator tours that were great. This one felt like a complete ripoff. Our guide was nice and the driver was excellent. But after our drive from Malaga, we got dropped off and had to pay $200 euros to get an actual tour of Gibraltar. We paid $1300 for this trip and we could have used Uber to get there and back for about $400 instead. We essentially paid for the driver and guide to sit and wait for us most of the day. A giant waste of money. Frustrating because Gibraltar is amazing and totally worth the trip. We just way-overpaid.
