Initially established by the Iberians, it was later christened Gerunda by the Romans who made it a vital station on the Via Augusta that connected Iberia and Rome. The city is widely recognised for its massive 15th-century cathedral that features the largest unsupported gothic arch on the globe and forms a distinguishing part of the city landscape. Nonetheless, much of the city’s allure is in wandering through its medieval lanes, particularly in the captivating Jewish sector. A popular city landmark is ‘ Pont de les Peixeteries Velles’, a bridge over the Onyar River constructed by Gustave Eiffel. This thorough tour (around 3 hours in duration) will introduce you to Girona’s significant monuments, historical chronicles, Jewish roots, and even its fables. • If you come from Barcelona the high speed train AVANT at 8.25am is the best option. You will arrives at 9.03am to Girona and there is about 20 minutes on foot to our meeting point.
• Please note: Girona is situated on a hill and has lots of stairs and slopes. If you have any difficulty to walk in these areas, they may not make this tour. Not recommended for people who need wheelchairs.
