A impressive first insight into the everyday life of people in a district of Nairobi - We had booked "Kenya Youth Tour in Nairobi" in January. We wanted to get a first insight into the everyday life of people in a district that is not in focus of tourists. On time we were picked up by Lilian, a very hospitable and impressive young woman who guided us, well informed and caring, throug the day. Her detailed information gave us concrete impression, of everyday life of people in the district. Lilian brought us in contact with the founder of Fred Kiserem's Epilepsy Foundation. This made us realize that a broad network of people in the community: teachers, parents and people in churches will help to see mental suffering as a disease. That means not exclude the affected, but start support, emphasie and medication help. We were able to see the success of networking when visiting a primary school. In conversation with the headteacher and teachers, we learned, it is possible to integrate children with disabilities succesfully. We finished our tour enjoying a very delicious Kenyan lunch in a kenian family. We were very content and recommend the tour to all Nairobi visitors. We will book again, hopefully with Lilian as confident, well informed, caring, likeable guide.
