We could have done without Guides. - We met at Giza at 1 o'clock and were worried about closing the gates by 4 o'clock, but we were able to get around efficiently in time for everything. I'm glad the driver felt good, too.

Take this tour with caution - We have conflicting feelings about this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable, very personable, a good teacher. interesting and fun to be around. He helped create a very positive atmosphere for us to enjoy the tour and learn many interesting things. The atmosphere which was created, however was used to completely take advantage of us. We knew the things we were paying for were overpriced, but not until later that we knew the extent of it. Things that sell at the Egyptian Museum for 150 EGP were sold for 500 from this guy on our tour. We were taken to a restaurant, and after we had already been seated and given some food they tell is its the one time low price of 400EGP per person, before drinks. Someone told us they often eat at this same place for about 250 EGP per person total. (Oh, and by the way, a free lunch was included in the price of the tour but it was not offered to us, instead we were brought here and upon asking why we paid extra for lunch were told we were given a choice and chose the expensive five star vs the included four star lunch. Oh, really? And when was this exactly?) We were taken to about five different local shops all in the same manner. They try to give you something special. Free drinks, personal conversation, or something like this to make you feel pressure to buy these things that are priced 3-500% of what they are worth. We spent far more than we had budgeted for or expected, and really feel like they brought us to all these different places to try and steal our money. It is really shameful conduct and broke any trust we have for the local people or culture. We now have to double check every detail of our trip because we can’t afford to be taken advantage of like this again. The tour itself was really cool and fun, but the way they treated us as foreigners really ruined our experience and caused a lot of stress for days after. Go on this trip and be wary. Do not buy anything. Get souvenirs from the Egyptian Museum or somewhere official, not from these scam artists.
