The Giza Pyramid Complex, also known as the Giza Necropolis, is located on the Giza Plateau in Greater Cairo, Egypt. It includes the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, along with their associated pyramid complexes and the Great Sphinx of Giza. These structures were all built during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. The site also features several cemeteries and the remains of a workers’ village. Situated at the edge of the Western Desert, it is approximately 9 kilometers (5.6 mi) west of the Nile River in Giza and about 13 kilometers (8 mi) southwest of Cairo’s city center. Khafre’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. Several statues of Khafre were discovered in the valley temple, some of which were found in a well in the temple floor by Mariette in 1860.

This unique pyramid, the second built by Sneferu, rises from the desert at a 54-degree inclination, but its top section (above 47 meters) is built at a shallower angle of 43 degrees, giving it a distinct ‘bent’ appearance.

• Dahshur - The Red Pyramid, also known as the North Pyramid, is the largest of the three major pyramids at the Dahshur necropolis in Cairo, Egypt. Named for the reddish hue of its limestone stones, it is the third largest Egyptian pyramid, after those of Khufu and Khafra at Giza. It is also considered Egypt’s first successful attempt at constructing a ‘true’ smooth-sided pyramid. Locals call it el-heram el-watwaat, meaning the Bat Pyramid. Originally, the Red Pyramid was covered with white Tura limestone, but only a few of these stones remain at its base. During the Middle Ages, much of the white limestone was taken for building in Cairo, revealing the red limestone underneath. The tour concludes with a drop-off at your hotel in Cairo or Giza.
