A perfect option for discovering the Egyptian landmark monuments - The private tour was great, Medhat is a knowledgeable and kind guide who showed us around and explained us the story of every site, while leaving us some time explore by our own. He also adapted the route as we were tired from the trip. I can only recommend him.

Excellent - Today I went on the Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, Saqqara, Memphis and Dashur tour. My tour guide and driver was well time to start the tour in the morning as the guide came for me in the hotel, we started our adventure first with the Giza Pyramids and I have to say tv does not do it justice. They’re amazing and the tour guide was very knowledgeable about the places we visited. Be warned that going into the pyramid the large one can be very tight space and can feel a little claustrophobic. However after I went onto a camel ride which was very good as you see the pyramids from a different perspective and the camel guide was very kind to take pictures. After, I went to the Sphinx where the tour guide told me knowledge on the lion body and man face statue as a man there took pictures of me with the great Sphinx that looked like I was kissing it. The tour guide and driver was very courteous, kind and answered any questions that I had. When we had finished the Sphinx we went to a bazaar where I had purchased a cartoushe made of silver at s reasonable price. When we finished there, the driver took us to Saqqara in which it was the steps pyramids and what can I say? Amazing. When I had finished with that, the tour guide took me to a homemade carpet shop which someone from there explained about the carpets and was very courteous a must see. When I had finished my tour guide and driver took me to the Dashur pyramids where I got some pictures and one of the pyramids 2 step one was broken however it looked great as my tour guide took pictures of me in front of the pyramid. Soon after we went to Memphis before going back to the hotel. I have to say, seeing the big Rameses the 2nd statue is a very big eye opener on the size of the statue and the detail of him being in his war armour as my tour guide gave information about him as we looked around taking pictures before going back to the car to head to the hotel. The tour guide and driver I highly recommend (I’m bad with remembering names) they were very knowledgeable, courteous and made you feel at ease and the operator of the whole tours that I’ve had with Egypt Tours is great with communication and helping you see the most of the experience. Thank you.

Decent - Tour was good, hard to understand the guide. Not so much a problem but definitely makes it hard to understand some of the information about the pyramids at times. What we didn’t like was when we were around the sphinx, he called over a “friend” who scammed us. He got the guy to take pictures of us in front of the sphinx, then the guy tried to get money from us. We didn’t have any Egyptian pounds on us as we didn’t plan on paying another guy to take pics for us.. so I gave him the 10$ Canadian I had in my wallet. He saw the 15$ Great Britain pounds in there as he made sure we were tipping him well, and asked for that too. We felt like we had to give him everything in my wallet to get him to leave us alone. The pics were weird and we didn’t keep 99.9% of them. There was a random couple in every pic standing right beside us that completely took away from them, and we feel scammed from the whole thing. The tour itself was decent though and he didn’t mind skipping certain things like, part of the tour brings you to a jewelry shop (no thank you), and a papyrus paper place (already did that) so that was nice to skip. We really just wanted to see the pyramids. Be prepared though, if you aren’t aware, you have to drive quite far between each pyramid and will be in the car for better part of the day. Also, be aware that the washroom facilities you stop at along the way don’t have toilet paper most of the time and you have to tip a guy standing outside each one for “cleaning and Kleenex to dry your hands”.. overall we are happy but feel like they should never have asked that guy to take our pictures. Really took away from the experience

Good start to our holiday - The pick-up from the hotel was timely, and the tour was really good. There was some flexibility according to our wishes. Only drawback was that we had a bit of trouble understanding our guide's accent. Overall a very enjoyable tour.

Ok, with caveats - I would recommend this trip with a lot of caveats. The folks are punctual, and you can make your trip efficient by using their services. If I were to do the trip all over again, I would just hire the taxi service from these folks, and do rest of the trip on my own. You can purchase your own tickets. the queues are not that long, or pick up the tickets online, ahead of time from the egyptian monuments website. Skip the lunch (if you are not a meat-heavy person). Skip the guide. The driver is as good as the guide. Pros: - The guide and the driver helped us navigate three pyramid complexes (nearly) and Memphis in a day. It would could not have been possible without the inputs. For that, we are grateful. - Also, the most useful information was to skip the ticket to go into the pyramids at Giza, One can do an all inclusive ticket that includes a visit inside the Red Pyramid at Dahsur. And if going to Luxor and the Valley of Kings, you could get possibly the same experience. Plus save some time. Not so nice things: - The guide, Madhat was useful only in helping keeping time and quickly moving between locations. Do not expect any useful archaeological or historical information from him. Honestly, in the first five minutes, we realised this and tried to politely reduce his talking time. But he would not get the cue. At the Giza Pyramid complex, he began by stating that the pyramids were built '7000 years ago'. To be honest, there are multiple types of guides, and one cannot expect all of them to be rolled up into one. To be Egyptologist, one needs to put in years of study, and they would cost dearly. Expecting a truly qualified Egyptologist in this price is also unfair. He continued to dole out his fabricated information at the Sakkara complex. We were not experts on ancient Egyptian history, but we could spot incorrect or fabricated information pretty quickly. And that does not help much with establishing credibility for any other information being doled out. - Importantly, our guide was more interested in taking us to a perfumery, a cartouche place, introducing us to free-lance photographers at the Giza pyramid complex (who was actually good), and then a carpet place. God knows what else, if we had not put our foot down. We did stop at the overpriced cartouche place and the perfumery (where we ended up buying perfumes), but the other two we refused. These services end up eating into your time that you could spend at the sites. Towards the end, there was no time to visit the Bent pyramid or the Black pyramid at the Dahsur, on account of him wasting our time with his side mini-scams. - The lunch is Egyptian fare. Meat heavy, and was not to our liking. The sodas are overpriced (chargeable separately). And there is an introductory spectacle that was sprung on us, as soon as we stopped (outside of the Sakkara complex). And every single person expects tips. Kind of off-putting, but seems to be the traditional expectation from the tourists in this country. - We tipped 200 EGP to the driver and 400 to the guide. In retrospective, and after touring the country, I think a bit much for the quality of guiding.
