- Pyramids of Giza - The Great Pyramid of Giza is the largest of the Egyptian pyramids and served as the tomb for Pharaoh Khufu, who reigned during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom. Constructed around 2600 BC over approximately 26 years, it is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the only one that remains largely intact. It is the most renowned monument within the Giza pyramid complex, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Memphis and its Necropolis.” It is located at the northeastern end of the line of the three main pyramids at Giza.
- Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - Khufu’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, now buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman. Although diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been discovered, the site has not been fully excavated.
- Pyramid of Menkaure - Menkaure’s pyramid complex features a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple once housed several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added to the valley temple.
- Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple revealed several statues of Khafre, some of which were discovered in a well in the temple’s floor by Mariette in 1860.
- Great Sphinx - Visitors can also enjoy a close-up view of The Sphinx, the legendary guardian with a lion’s body and the head of King Chephren, standing by the vast funeral complex.
- The Egyptian Museum - The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, commonly known as the Egyptian Museum, is located in Cairo, Egypt, and houses the world’s largest collection of Egyptian antiquities. It contains over 120,000 items, with a significant number on display. Situated in Tahrir Square in a building constructed in 1901, it is the largest museum in Africa. Among its treasures is Pharaoh Tutankhamun’s collection, including the iconic gold burial mask, considered one of the most famous works of art globally and a prominent symbol of ancient Egypt.
- Khan Al-Khalili - Khan el-Khalili is a renowned bazaar in Cairo’s historic center. Established during the Mamluk era as a trade hub and named after one of its historic caravanserais, the bazaar district has become a major attraction for both tourists and locals. It is home to many Egyptian artisans and workshops producing traditional crafts and souvenirs. Originally, Khan el-Khalili referred to a single building, but today it denotes the entire shopping district.
