The tour guide was... - The tour guide was excellent about the history of Egypt, especially in reference to Biblical and Islamic sources regarding the Pharohs. I also really enjoyed the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Good guide, but disappointing. - It is hard to review this tour. It was good, but disappointing. Originally the tour was supposed to include the gem museum which never fully opened like it was supposed to. We chose to continue with our tour, but feel that the price should have been reduced since it wasn't what we originally signed up for. The tickets to get into just the staircase were $39 each. It was definitely beautiful, but a very steep price for just seeing the entrance of a museum. The tickets were not included in the tour. Our tour guide was great and he went above and beyond to try to help us with transportation after our tour. We didn't realize that in Cairo, the US requires that you have a bodyguard on tours, so in addition to the tour guide and our driver we also had a bodyguard with us in our car and all day on the tour. Also when we paid the tour guide back for the tickets to get into the museum and the pyramids, he told us that almost all of our cash was no good. One had a little bit of pen writing on it, some were not crisp and new so he declined that money. And any money that was before 2003 he said was no good. So that left us very short on cash and they only accepted cash. We wish we would have known these things before and we feel like we did a lot of research before we went. We also added going to the Egyptian museum at the square so we could see King Tut's items since they were not on view at the new gem museum yet. It was very disappointing that out of over 5,000 items recovered from his tomb there was just a tiny room with the gold mask, the two inner sarcophagus and some jewelry. They also had one throne and some sandals and a few other random items. To some people, it was probably fine, but I had researched so much and knew details about many items that were not on display. The giza pyramids of course were amazing and we opted to take a camel ride.

Grand Pyramids/Museum - Disappointing Guide - Enjoyed the Pyramids and seeing the Grand Egyptian museum. The museum as stated in the tour description is not fully operational. There are no actual exhibits open, only the main hall, shops and restaurants. That said, it is an amazing facility and worth visiting even with the limited access, especially if you don't see yourself getting back to Egypt once its fully open. However, I had a terrible guide from Egyptian Sunrise tours. They were very nice but barely spoke English and seemed to be very new to being a guide. I was disappointed that on my only day in Cairo, I did not have a chaperone who knew their way around better and who I could easily communicate with. On the plus side, the driver was great and knew his way very well.
