- Pyramids of Giza - The Giza Pyramid Complex, also known as the Giza Necropolis, is located on the Giza Plateau in Greater Cairo, Egypt. It features the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, along with their respective pyramid complexes and the Great Sphinx of Giza. These structures were constructed during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. The site also includes several cemeteries and the remnants of a workers’ village.
- Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - The Khufu pyramid complex includes a valley temple, which is currently buried beneath the village of Nazlet El Samman. Diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been discovered, although the site has not yet been excavated.
- Khafre’s Pyramid - The Khafre pyramid complex comprises a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple revealed several statues of Khafre, some of which were discovered in a well on the temple floor by Mariette in 1860.
- Menkaure Pyramid - The Menkaure pyramid complex includes a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple originally housed several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added to the valley temple.
- Great Sphinx - The Sphinx dates back to the reign of King Khafre. During the New Kingdom, Amenhotep II dedicated a new temple to Hauron Haremakhet, which was later expanded by subsequent rulers.
