The two Temples of Abu Simbel, with their unique style, are masterpieces of ancient Egypt, reflecting the glory and grandeur of the New Kingdom. The Egyptian government and UNESCO collaborated to save these temples from flooding. The Temple of Ramses II is dedicated to the four universal gods: Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re, and Ramses II himself. The great Abu Simbel temple is also known as The Sun Temple of Ramses II. The Temple of Queen Nefertari is also called the Temple of Hathor, who was the wife of the Sun God. Symbolically, the two temples unite Ramses II, Nefertari, Hathor, and the Sun God.

Valley of the Kings - The Valley of the Kings is renowned for its magnificent architecture used for royal burials. Many kings are interred here, including King Tutmosis I, Tutmosis III, Tutankhamun, King Ramses VI, King Merenptah, and Amenhotep II. This royal burial ground features exquisitely decorated tombs for pharaohs who ruled Egypt between 1539 and 1075 BC. With over 60 tombs in this small area, only a few are open to the public. If visiting Egypt, these are the best tombs to explore in the Valley of the Kings.
Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - The Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, known as El Dir El Bahari, was built by Queen Hatshepsut, daughter of Thutmosis I, who ruled Egypt for about 20 years during the 18th Dynasty (approximately 1490-1469 B.C). She was the only pharaonic woman to reign over ancient Egypt. The Temple of Hatshepsut is not only a memorial temple honoring Queen Hatshepsut but also one of the greatest Egyptian architectural achievements. Designed by Senenmut (Hatshepsut’s steward and architect), this mortuary temple closely resembles classical Greek architecture from 1,000 years later. Located on the west bank of the Nile, opposite Luxor (ancient Thebes), Hatshepsut’s temple is part of the Theban Necropolis. Built in a half-circle of cliffs, this memorial temple marks the entrance to the Valley of the Kings. Djeser Djeseru (holy of holiest) is the name of the main building of the temple of Hatshepsut.
Colossi of Memnon - The Colossi of Memnon, also known as el-Colossat or el-Salamat, are two monumental statues representing Amenhotep III (1386-1353 BCE) of the 18th Dynasty of Egypt. Located west of modern Luxor, they face east toward the Nile River. The statues depict the seated king on a throne adorned with imagery of his mother, his wife, the god Hapy, and other symbolic engravings. Each figure stands 60 ft (18 meters) high and weighs 720 tons, carved from single blocks of sandstone.
Temple of Karnak - Karnak Temple is the greatest example of worship in history, dedicated to the God Amon, his wife Mut, and their son Khonsu. The Karnak Temple Complex, commonly known as Karnak, is a vast mix of temples, pylons, chapels, and other buildings near Luxor, Egypt. Construction began during Senusret I’s reign in the Middle Kingdom and continued into the Ptolemaic Kingdom, though most existing buildings date from the New Kingdom. The area around Karnak was the ancient Egyptian Ipet-isut and the main place of worship for the 18th Dynastic Theban Triad, with the god Amun as its head. It is part of the monumental city of Thebes and was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979, along with the rest of the city. Karnak gets its name from the nearby modern village of El-Karnak, 2.5 kilometers north of Luxor.
