On this journey, we’ll venture into the undiscovered corners of Gjirokaster, the enchanting location that most travelers overlook. Our expedition will initiate from the heart of the ancient hub, “Cerciz Topulli Square,” and guide us towards the “Old Bazaar”, although it no longer functions as a bazaar. Positioned outside the castle boundaries, this is the primary neighbourhood beneath the fortress walls. It enchants us with characteristic cobblestone paths and some of the antiquated residences that are the picturesque features of this precinct. Upon crossing the “Zerzebili” bridge, we gain entrance to another historic neighborhood named “Cfaka”. We’ll traverse roads lined with historic homes that are grade one monuments, and an edifice that is the property of the Bektashi Order. Marvel at the stunning fusion of natural beauty, shepherds guiding their flocks along the hilltops, and traditional dwelling places before we reach our final stop, the “Ali Pasha Bridge”.
