Highlights
  • Rruga Pazari i Vjetër Pllake 42 - In this course we will teach you some special recipes of TetaMarjeta, a lady that loves cooking and will open her home for us . Led by your local guide, step inside Marjetas home, sip on a glass of raki produced by her husband or some of the delicious drinks she makes and try your hand a local recipe, using fresh, local ingredients. Then sit down to savor the fruits of your labor with your guide and Marjeta.
Make your way to CercizTopulli square, to join up with the host and walk over to Marjeta. We begin the class with a glass of raki or a soft drink while chatting with your group mates. The food we are going to prepare is called Osa(kind of pasta combined with chicken). Another recipe will be the traditional “Qifqis” found only in Gjirokaster and consisting mainly on rice and also the desert called “Hasude”. All these three are accompanied by the salad of the season Marjeta has already prepared for you. After all the hard work, sit down with your group to savor each of your dishes. Pair your menu with a complimentary glass of wine, raki, or a soft drink and have a nice chat while you eat.
In the end a recipe of what you have cooked will be given to you to prepare it back home!

Great - Great experience. We prepared several Gjirokastra dishes. The food tasted great and we are going to cook it at home. Thanks

Unforgettable experience - A must do! I can’t say enough good things about this experience. We went through Trip Advisor/Experience Gjirokastra and booked this activity. The company sent a friendly, upbeat and informative guide (Vicki) to help translate. Chef Gjorca and his wife are so knowledgeable, welcoming and kind! Our guide told us he is the most respected and famous chef in Gjirokaster. He has even been visited by not one, but two Albanian presidents. Their kitchen is so humble yet they deftly crank out amazing Albanian staples! You can participate as much or little as you’d like. My mom and I love cooking so we were all in! Then you enjoy the food on the patio or in the cafe. An unforgettable experience for us. Highly recommend if you are interested in cooking or food in general.

Fun, Friendly and Delicious - We had a brilliant experience cooking with a local in his very own restaurant. Chef Gjoca has 35 years experience and we made many different dishes. All delicious with the take home recipe to be able cook at home. Really fresh ingredients with home wine to match! Our guide was there to translate and we learnt about the Albanian from from her - which we also really enjoyed. Amazing experience and one to remember - we certainly recommend this activity when visiting beautiful Gjirokastra.

Lovely couple amd delicious food - The couple who leads the class is lovely! They are joined by Viki, a student who is also a tour guide for the castle, and translates the most. The food is relaitvely simple but delicious! Luckily, we were involved in the whole process of the preparation am not just observers. If not for a cooking class then definately a place to have lunch or dinner!
