A fantastic experience, with Dougal as the guide - This tour was amazing! Of course, I had the BEST tour guide ever, Dougal, who was absolutely brilliant-- knowledgable to the max, super delightful, great sense of humor, excellent driver. It was a terrific experience and certainly the greatest way to see the city of Glasgow in a very short period of time. Thank you for the excellent memory!

An excellent tour. - We’ve used the tour before several years ago in Glasgow when we were gifted a voucher by friends and have done similar tours in Paris and New York. I think expectations grow as time passes but whats delivered meets them and indeed exceeds them. We experienced both the earphone recordings and the live one with local guides giving commentary. Both delivered different aspects of the tour and complemented each other well. The live tours and earphone delivered ones alternate so you can hop between them. The earphone one was packed with information much of which I didn’t even know even though it’s my home city! The live guides spoke more personally injecting appropriate very tasteful patter and humour. Drivers were all professional and friendly as were the staff at the stop on George Square Part of the route wasn’t covered due to roadworks which were outwith the control of the company. There seemed to be road works everywhere when we took the tour. The main part that was missed could’ve been covered by foot if we wanted and over all it didn’t detract from the quality of the tour or the value for money. The Riverside Museum and Kelvingrove museums are absolute must see’s and can take time to see fully so best to start your trip early to fit it all in. Next time we’d like to see other museums that we didn’t get a chance to visit. Overall it’s a great way to get to see the city.

Great Tour, Excellent Tour Guide - Absolutely loved our tour round Glasgow. Maureen our Guide was super lovely, she had a wealth of information, but she also had all the local names and interesting stories to go with the history. We got on at stop 20(there are 21 stops) so just stayed on once it got to number one again. Three of the stops were closed on the route due to massive road works taking place in Glasgow, but it really didn't detract from our experience at all. We went all the way around, got off at stop number 1 which allowed us to explore the city on foot having been round and making a note of which places we wanted to go in. Absolutely recommend this. We took the Redline.

Glasgow has great sights and museums - Had a live person explaining what we were seeing. She was great! When we got on the bus later and listened to the recorded information about the sites, the information was very good as well. This is the best way to see the sights and then pick and choose the places you want to explore. Don’t miss the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

A really great hop-on/off Experience. - Much better than I expected. On the first part of the journey, we had a local guide named Sue. She couldn't have been more interesting and knowledgable. Bus was very clean, good driving, great route and timely arrivals/departures in spite of roadwork. Note, there are at least 2 different hop-on-off bus companies. Make sure you have the right one. The second time I got on, the fellow commentator was not as knowledgable or well-spoken, but the bus got me to where I wanted to go.

Unpredictable route changes, service not as advertised - experience is fine once (if) you catch a bus. - We dedicated one day of our Scotland trip to Glasgow and planned to get a overview by bus. Why it didn't go well at all: the route the busses take is normally fixed and so we were happy to have a station right in front of our apartment. What we didn't know: out of nearly 20 stations, seven were out of order (because of road closures, etc - alright, the bus company isn't guilty of this), including the one we needed. However, this information was only visible in the busses themselves on an old fashioned sheet of paper. Furthermore, on the website, there is a map where you can see the live position of the busses. Or more like, you should, because it's five minutes behind - we compared it multiple times. Another information on which you can't rely. Even better, some bus stations were out of use. The alternative stations weren't marked, the busses just stopped somewhere random. Which makes catching a bus on one of these stations impossible since you don't know where they are. And on it goes: the busses are advertised to arrive in 12min-intervals. We proved this claim to be completely wrong since we sat at a restaurant near a station and didn't see a bus pass by ONCE in 1,5 hours. On the positive side, once you were lucky enough to actually catch a bus, the experience is alright. Many seats, detailled audio guide information (or speakers on some busses) and a partially open roof. The drivers were polite. All in all, I can't recommend this service. Why advertise a plan if it's completely wrong? Out of order bus stations should be noted on the website - it's the year 2024. Definitely not worth the price, would rather walk next time or take normal public transport. Sadly there is no competition in tourist bus services in Glasgow which might be the reason why this one is SO bad. Side note: when I was in Barcelona last year in July, I used a similar bus service which worked flawless. From a different company obviously.

Beware of scams - There was no story to share as the bus did not show up and we were left waiting for more than an hour. Looking for my refund but no one has got back yet/ what a scam.

Buy from City Sightseeing directly on the day, otherwise you might waste your money - Unable to even access the experience. When boarding at the first stop, I was told that the ticket had already been redeemed. I contacted Viator to see what the issue was; they attempted to contact City Sightseeing offices first by phoning them (no answer) and then by e-mail (second day of waiting for a response). I have no idea who is now responsible for getting me a refund. It would have been easier to buy the ticket on the day from the vendor and not via Viator.
