A Great Scottish Castle Tour - We took the Outlander Castle tour out of Glasgow...it was wonderful!! Our driver was informative and interesting, the van comfortable and there were only 6 of us and the castles were all we had hoped for in Scottish castles and Falkland was just charming. Just a great day!!

Scottish Delight and Outlander Highlights - We were looking for an independent shore excursion for our one day port stop in Greenock. We chose the Outlander Day Tour for the variety of sites we would see along the way. The company uses a variety of vehicles depending on how many are booked on a particular day. The day we went we were in a car with a driver/guide, and two vans with about 6 each and a guide were in our caravan that day as we traveled together to the various sites. We have seen Outlander, but are also interested in all the cultural and historical info about Scotland. Our guide Dario was so interesting with his knowledge of Scotland. He wasn't as versed with the Outlander info but that was okay as we met up with the other guides at the sites and Sergio gave us the Outlander info. We had a beautiful September day which made for excellent photos. Our first stop Blackness Castle was beautiful, on the water. This was the castle that doubled as Ft. William in Outlander. Not too crowded so early which is a plus of independent tours. Dario was always available to take photos of us in front of the castle. Just gorgeous. Next stop was Midhope Castle, which doubled as Jamie's family home Lallybroch in Outlander. Just as pictured in the series. No one was here as we arrived. You can't tour inside, but the outside is photogenic. Even without access to the inside, it is one of the most iconic castles seen in Outlander IMO. We saw some interesting, possibly wild chickens nearby and saw the building that served as the bird (I think quail) raising building for the property long ago (Dario pointed that out to us). Onward, to the picturesque town of Falkland. This whole town could be a movie set it is so quaintly amazing. We had a light lunch break at the charming Hayloft Tea Room which was reserved just for our group where you could order soups and sandwiches, etc. It was delightful, tasty, affordable and quick service. After lunch, we strolled the town and saw the fountain and building which was used in Outlander for the scene where Jamie from the past views Claire in the future combing her hair in the window. We had a little free time to explore the town before we had a "wee dram" of Scottish whisky from our guides before continuing on through the countryside. Last castle was Doune which was used as the fictional Castle Leoch, the Scottish Highlands home of Clan Mackenzie in Outlander. Here we were able to have an audio tour with our admission which explained the castle in depth but also the Outlander connections. It was also used in the Monty Python movie, as well as the Game of Thrones pilot. Another scenic, beautiful site. Lastly we made a quick stop at the Trossacks Woolen Mill which was closed for the day, but we had come for the main attraction: their two "Hairy Coos" (famous Highland cows) They are so adorable. Our guides brought carrots for us to feed them! Right by a scenic field of sheep grazing, with a lovely estate in the background. Although the ride at the start of the day was mostly expressway to quickly reach our first destination, the return was more via backroads to avoid traffic and were quite scenic. This was a full, delightful day. It is a lot of time in the vehicle, but well worth it to us as we chatted with the guide. And we felt like we had enough time at each site. Bathroom breaks were available at each stop. And as it is clearly stated on the Serca website, you do pay for your own admission fees at all 3 castle sites. We still feel the tour quality and value was worth it. There is minimal shopping, but we didn't come for that. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and our time with Dario who was a wealth of information about Scotland. They know exactly when the cruise all aboard time is and make sure you are back to the port in plenty of time. We highly recommend this tour company based on the wonderful day we had. Thank you Serca Tours.

Best Outlander Tour - We had a wonderful day with our guide, Sergio! It was great from beginning to end. The lunch stop he chose for us was perfect! Even though we had some avid Outlander fans mixed with a few non-fans, we ALL had a lot of fun! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone!

Outlander tour shore excursion - This trip was a perfect cruise excursion. Sergio met us at the pier so no stress with meeting up. the tour was fantastic. As an Outlander fan it was wonderful to see all the castles , but even if you are not an Outlander fan the history of these places was so incredible . Sergio went above and beyond to make out tour memorable. A sighting of the Kelpies, a stop for lunch in a typical Scottish tearoom, a wee dram with strawberries and raspberries, a stop to see the highland hairs cows. I cannot express how wonderful it was to see all these things. Sergio made the utmost effort to ensure delivering us safely back to the ship on time. Highly recommended.

Informative and friendly driver - I have to admit we lucked out and thought we would be on a big bus for this tour, however since we were the only booking we got a private car. The driver Steph was very nice and informative. Showed us some areas we may not have visited if in a large bus. He was able to answer all our questions and help me learn how to properly pronounce Glasgow. Would highly recommend.

Friendly inclusive group with great views and experiences! - Incredible tour! We were escorted around by Sergio. He is a fantastic tour guide and took it upon himself to show us spots outside of the outlander tour that were special to him. His service was exceptional and he went above and beyond. Would recommend this tour to all friends and families (even if you aren’t familiar with the outlander show! Definitely makes me want to start watching it now though! Thanks Sergio for such an amazing time)

Beyond what I could have wished for or imagined! - I booked this as an excursion on a cruise ship. Sergio made my tour the highlight of my vacation. His insider knowledge from working on the set gave a unique fun perspective to the day. It was beyond what I could have hoped for or imagined. He even accommodated a woman on the tour who insisted that she had to see Highland cows and even though it wasn’t on the itinerary, being an OUTLANDER tour, we made a quick photo stop on the way back to the ship. Sergio said he hadn’t missed a cruise ship yet and got us back within time with no issues. I hadn’t realized that Sercs Tours is a very small, family-run business which makes me even happier to support them. I highly recommend! *Be aware, entry fees to the castles and lunch are not included in the cost of this tour*

Berry Glad We Did it! 🍓 - Our family learned about Serca Tours through a positive video review about visiting Scotland. Our experience was every bit as positive as theirs - maybe even more! Our guide Sergio was kind, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We signed up for the Outlander tour - even though we’d never seen the series. It was recommended because it offers a good cross section of castles and sites. We can tell you firsthand that you do not have to be an Outlander fan to enjoy the tour. Even without direct knowledge of the show, we had a great afternoon seeing and experiencing the notable castles and towns. A highlight was lunch at the quaint Hayloft Tea Room in Falkland. The town was storybook beautiful, and getting to enjoy a meal prepared by these local ladies was a perfect part of our experience. In addition to hitting the tour spots, Sergio made an unexpected stop to treat everyone on the bus to freshly picked strawberries. He declared they would be the best we’d ever tasted. He was right! He also knew our daughter was looking forward to meeting a Highland Coo. He found time to divert from our planned path to drop-in to a roadside stand that had several of the fantastic animals. Our day in the Scottish Highlands was complete! From booking to disembarking - our tour was first rate. We recommend having their awesome family share their Scotland with you!

Nice Way to See A Lot - We enjoyed seeing the castles and much of the Scottish towns and countryside. It was a nice way to see a lot of things, especially some of the less busy castles. I didn’t feel like we got a lot of information on Outlander, but we did hear a lot of general Scottish history, culture and perspective. It was A LOT of time riding in the car with only short times at the sites. But it was still overall a good experience.

Disappointing for such a good itinerary - Disappointing. I would have given the tour three stars, but it wasn't even average in the end. This tour had a perfect itinerary. We made the incorrect assumption, from a few reviews, that it would be a smaller group. We should have read more of the reviews. This tour today, had way too many people booked on it, 19. The other couple traveling with us got off the bus before the tour started. The bus was old and crowded, not at all comfortable. Our driver and guide, Sergio told us he usually drove the "black cars," then pointed one out to us. That is what we expected, not an older, uncomfortable, crowded bus. He gave us a lot of information at first, although we couldn't hear him well in the back of the bus. We enjoyed Blackness Castle and Falkland. That was about the end of our enjoyment. Doune Castle was under renovation, we moseyed around the castle and parking lot. We were there more time than we needed to be. At Midhope Castle, we were given 15 min to purchase tickets, run up to the castle and be back. Such a shame, this castle deserved more time, and very few on this tour bothered to go. We stopped for photos of the Hairy Coos Cows. In Falkland, we had a pleasant lunch and a walk around town. Sergio treated us to tastes of whiskey, strawberries and sweet treats. When we started back to the ship, Sergio had to drive faster than he should have had to, and we made it with little time to spare. The problem was nineteen people getting on and off the bus and poor planning of how much time we spent at some of our stops. Sergio is an experienced guide and I’m disappointed that he didn’t plan this better. When you book this tour, be sure you are told in an email, how many passengers you will be with and the vehicle that is being used.
