Glasgow Cathedral - Departing from Greenock Ocean Terminal, enjoy a 40-minute drive along the picturesque south shore of the River Clyde to Glasgow, where Scotland’s largest city began to form. The Cathedral, a stunning structure dedicated to St Kentigern, also known as St Mungo, who founded Glasgow, was built in the 1100s. It houses St Mungo’s tomb, attracting countless pilgrims over the centuries to his shrine. Today, it stands as the most complete medieval cathedral on the Scottish mainland. Behind the Cathedral lies the Necropolis, a Victorian garden cemetery inspired by Père-Lachaise in Paris, filled with towering tombs and graves. It is situated on a prominent hill offering splendid views of the city’s south side. Across the road is Provand’s Lordship, Glasgow’s oldest house, built in 1471, and one of only four surviving medieval buildings in the city.

Stirling Castle - Enjoy a pleasant 35-minute drive to Stirling, leaving the Cathedral District via the motorway and quickly reaching the open countryside. Stirling and its surrounding hills soon come into view. Stirling Castle is one of Scotland’s largest and most significant castles, both historically and architecturally. Perched on a volcanic outcrop, it guards the lowest crossing point of the River Forth. The views are breathtaking in all directions, highlighting its strategic importance. There is much to explore and enjoy within the castle. Entry Fee £17.50 per person.
-
National Wallace Monument - A 10-minute drive takes you to the Wallace Monument, descending the long steep hill from the Castle, passing through the old town and then past Old Stirling Bridge. The Bridge, built in the 1400s, replaced a series of timber bridges. In 1297, William Wallace defeated Edward I’s forces at The Battle of Stirling Bridge. Today, the bridge is one of Scotland’s finest medieval masonry arch bridges. The Wallace Monument stands 220 feet high atop Abbey Craig hill, overlooking the fields where Wallace led his troops to victory. There are 276 steps to the top, but the climb is well worth it. Entry Fee £11.30 per person.
-
Loch Lomond - From Stirling, enjoy a scenic 35-minute drive towards Loch Lomond, with a stop at Drymen for a meal if desired. Then, take in the sweeping, panoramic views of mountains and the loch from the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond.
