Itinerary

24TH DECEMBER 2023: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park
The guide/driver will pick up guests from their hotel. Travel to Mbarara (268km from Kampala) via Masaka, with the first stop at the Equator crossing for photos. Lunch will be at Agip Motel Mbarara. After lunch, continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park, located in southwestern Uganda. It is the second-largest park in the country, situated at the base of the majestic Rwenzori Mountains, near Lake Edward and Lake George, connected by the Kazinga Channel. The park is home to 5,000 hippos, 2,500 elephants, and over 10,000 buffaloes thriving in its grasslands. An afternoon game drive will be conducted to spot tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector of the park. (Approximately 7-8 hours’ drive).

DAY 2 - 25TH DECEMBER 2023:
Game Drive and Boat Trip in Queen Elizabeth N.P
After breakfast, embark on a dawn game drive. The morning is ideal for game viewing as the African animal kingdom is most active during the golden hours of the first sunlight touching the savannah. Expect to see elephants, buffaloes, lions, waterbuck, leopards, Uganda kobs, warthogs, birds, and primates. After lunch, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lakes Edward and George. Witness large numbers of hippos and various other animals that come to the waterhole to drink or bathe, including buffaloes, crocodiles, bathing elephants, and a range of beautiful birds.

DAY 3 - 26TH DECEMBER 2023:
Chimpanzee Trekking then Transfer to Bwindi Forest.
Participate in habituated chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge in the morning, then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. (Approximately 5-6 hours’ drive).
Meals and overnight stay at Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge (FB).

DAY 4 - 27TH DECEMBER 2023:
Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest
Start the day with breakfast, preparing for trekking, which begins at 7:30 a.m. with a briefing. Remember to bring a rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, jungle boots, etc. Guides will lead the way into the jungle to see the shy primates for the group booked. Don’t forget to take lunch boxes and all necessary gear to track the rare mountain gorilla, one of the most thrilling wildlife experiences on earth. Tracking may take between 2 to 10 hours, depending on the proximity of the gorilla family, but it is well worth the effort.

DAY 5 - 28TH DECEMBER 2023:
Return to Kampala
Return to Kampala in the morning, with a lunch break at Agip Motel Mbarara. Stop at the Equator Uganda crossing and Mpambire drum makers for a brief photo opportunity and to shop for souvenirs, then transfer to Entebbe for the evening flight home. (Approximately 8-9 hours’ drive).
