After a pleasant drive through the beautiful countryside we will reach Oršić Castle - Baroque castle dating the back to the mid 18th century.
Once a feudal residence of the famous Oršić family, at the end of the sixties and the beginning of the seventies, the castle was thoroughly renewed and transformed into a Museum of the Peasants’ revolt, which deals with a tragic event that occurred in 1573 in this area.
Besides the museum, you will see a well-preserved chapel with illusionist murals and an illustrated baroque altar and park with a huge monument dedicated to the Peasants’ revolt and to its leader Matija Gubec, made by a prominent Croatian sculptor Antun Augustinčić
Please not that the museum is not open on Mondays.
- Trakoscan Castle (Dvor Trakoscan) - After a pleasant drive through the beautiful countryside we will reach Trakoscan - most famous and best preserved Croatian castle. Castle was first built in the late 13th or early 14th Century as a small defensive fortress. Complex of Trakošćan we have today, a romanticist synergy of architecture and nature, is a result of 19th century. Castle was reconstructed in neo – gothic style and surrounding landscape including a lake emerged after the model of English park. You will see a valuable collection of paintings, furniture and weapons and enjoy walking around the picturesque lake surrounding the castle.
- Restaurant, winery and pension “Vuglec Breg” - After the castles you will explore centuries old tradition of wine-growing and wine-making at ‘’Vuglec Breg’’. A visit to the wine-cellar is a special experience for every guest and enjoyment in wine-tasting will bring a smile of delight to the lips of every wine enthusiast.
After the wine tasting you can have lunch in a traditional restaurant serving seasonal and homemade products from the region of Zagorje (Lunch is optional).
