- Cooper Spur Mountain Resort - Experience what some of our guests have called the most beautiful cycling in the world; a stunning ride full of mountain views, fast hills and challenging climbs if that is your jam.
Cycling on the roads and mountain highways around the mountain the Indigenous people called Wy’East is an exercise in approachable adventure; with 23-60 miles (35-100 km) of riding from near the timberline down into the nearly sea level town of Hood River. Our adventure is adjustable for your experience level but this is the most challenging of our many bike tours and anyone’s day tours offered from Portland.
The activity will include 4-6 hours of riding with stops for lunch and beverages and about 60 - 90 minutes of travel each way from Portland.
For most itineraries, Cooper Spur is the gateway to the mountain and provides a jumping-off point to the day’s adventure. We will stop for lunch at a winery (with optional wine, cider or beer) or pick up a picnic lunch on the way – cost is on your own.

Pedaling along the roads and byways encircling Wy’East mountain - named in honor of local Indigenous dialect - is hailed as one of the planet’s most picturesque journeys. The route showcases breathtaking panoramas, a bounty of seasonal wildflowers, towering forests, and shimmering lakes visible through the foliage. Minor waterfalls cascade down the mountain’s andesite lava walls while valleys with innumerable mountains extending into the horizon surround you. We suggest paths spanning 23, 40, or 60 miles based on group interests and fitness levels, featuring substantial elevation differences but predominantly descending. The use of e-bikes is also available.
Cycling Wy’East offers a manageable yet thrilling experience; covering 23-60 miles (40-100 km), the ride begins near the timberline and concludes near the sea level town of Hood River. Although our trip can be customized according to your skill level, it remains the most demanding among our assortment of bike tours and single-day treks departing from Portland.
A self-sponsored lunch break is also factored into the day’s activities.
