Setting Sail on the Spinner Dolphin

The sun was just beginning to rise over the Caribbean horizon as I made my way to the Le Morne Anglers’ Club. The anticipation of a day filled with oceanic wonders had me buzzing with excitement. As a former professional surfer, the ocean has always been my playground, and today promised to be no different. The luxurious catamaran, SHARINE, awaited us, ready to whisk us away on a full-day western cruise and snorkeling adventure.

As we set sail along the Black River Coast, the gentle sway of the catamaran and the salty breeze instantly put me at ease. The crew was friendly and knowledgeable, sharing stories of the majestic Le Morne Brabant and the lush Black River Gorges. The possibility of encountering dolphins in Tamarin Bay had everyone on board eagerly scanning the waters. And sure enough, a pod of playful dolphins soon graced us with their presence, dancing alongside the boat and setting the tone for a magical day.

Snorkeling in Crystal Waters

Our first stop was at ‘La Preneuse’ or ‘L’Harmonie’, where the crystal-clear waters beckoned us to dive in. As someone who has spent countless hours riding waves, snorkeling offers a different kind of thrill. The underwater world is a vibrant tapestry of colors and life, and I was eager to explore it.

The marine life was nothing short of spectacular. Schools of colorful fish darted around us, and the coral formations were a sight to behold. It was a reminder of the beauty that lies beneath the surface, often unseen but always there, waiting to be discovered. The water was warm and inviting, making it hard to leave, but the promise of a delicious BBQ lunch on board was enough to lure us back to the catamaran.

Leisurely Sailing and Island Exploration

With our appetites satisfied by a feast of grilled fish, BBQ chicken, and fresh salads, we continued our leisurely sail along the West Coast. The Spinner Dolphin catamaran provided the perfect setting for relaxation, with ample space to lounge and soak in the sun.

Our journey took us to Ile aux Benitiers, a small island that felt like a slice of paradise. The soft sand and gentle waves were a perfect backdrop for a leisurely stroll or a quick dip in the ocean. As the day began to wind down, we made our way back to the jetty, the sun setting in a blaze of colors over the horizon.

Reflecting on the day, I realized that this cruise was more than just an adventure; it was a reminder of the simple joys that the ocean offers.
