Highlights
  • Mayfair - Begin your tour in Mayfair, an elegant London neighbourhood that played an integral role in Winston Churchill’s life. You’ll start by experiencing some of the places he frequented most often throughout his childhood and as a young man. See the hotel from which he ordered his food while living nearby and even the bachelor pad that he called home in his younger years.
  • The Royal Arcade - After getting a glimpse of the young Churchill’s usual haunts, you’ll see how his tastes for the finer things in life developed. Swing over to visit where Churchill purchased his custom-made dress shoes so he didn’t have to reach down and tie whilst he frantically worked out of his underground bunker during WWII.
  • St. James’ Square - Churchill was famous for his love of hats, cigars, and other luxuries. Your guide will show you the shops where he frequently purchased both of the above and other material pleasures around St James Street.
  • Horse Guards Parade at Whitehall - See mounted cavalry troops on beautifully bred horses at the Horse Guards Parade, a ceremonial parade ground where the annual Trooping the Colour takes place in celebration of the King’s birthday.
  • Whitehall - Your journey continues through some of the darkest days of Churchill’s tenure as Prime Minister: World War II. Millions courageously sacrificed their lives for a noble cause during these tumultuous years and are remembered in places throughout London today. As you make your way along Whitehall, you’ll pay homage to them at iconic statues and visit solemn memorials that commemorate all the casualties experienced by British forces during WWII and other conflicts.
  • Churchill War Rooms - Descend into the heart of Churchill War Rooms, an underground complex located in London’s Westminster district that served as a secret base of operations during World War II. Explore the corridors and rooms where British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and his staff worked tirelessly to direct military operations from 1940–45. Experience firsthand the conditions these brave leaders faced on a daily basis as they fought against Nazi Germany. See original artifacts, historic photographs and interactive displays that recreate a fascinating time in British history.

History with Soul - Excellent tour. Our guide Kate was so knowledgeable on Winston Churchill as a person and as a leader. We also learnt a lot of information on WWII and the bombings people endured in London throughput the war but especially in 1940. The War Rooms were fascinating. What an amazing piece of history that has been preserved for future generations.

Very interesting tour. - Kate was a great guide and very informative. Through no fault of hers there was a snafu with the tickets at the War Rooms. We waited approximately 40 mins to enter.

Informative tour - Excellent tour. Judd was amazing and worked the tour around the participant interests. Meeting place was difficult; google maps was misleading.

May Time Churchill walk and WWII War Rooms - Our guide Suzan’s was very friendly and very knowledgeable. The walk (longer than anticipated) was quite interesting as to personal aspects of Churchill. At the end of the walk we arrived at The Churchill Underground War Rooms. They are a fascinating and informative presentation as to how the British waged WWII. The rooms are extensive and require much time to view and absorb all that is there.

Skip the tour, go straight to the museum - If you are interested in the more personal life if Winston Churchill (where he shopped, his personal finances, etc.), this tour could be of interest. I did enjoy seeing various sculptures and old buildings he frequented. Otherwise, skip this tour and head directly into the war rooms museum, which my daughter and I both really enjoyed (and would have had more energy to stay longer had we not been tired out from this 2.5 hr walking tour).

Caution! 2 hours walking before museum! - The War Room museum is great! However, if the explanation of the tour had stated 2 hours walking before I would not have booked it. The guy Kate was ok but I can walk the fashion district myself. Who cares where Churchill bought his personal items. Not the first Viator that was misleading In itinerary!!
