One of the most amazing museums in London - We were in awe viewing some beautiful artwork from various renown artists. The collections were really impressive and the place took us a few hours to “kind of” finish.
I particularly loved the “red boy” & the “blue boy” exhibit.
Their sculptures collection was super great as well. It was a windy morning and we were so hungry after viewing some exhibits and didn’t get to take more photos of this architectural beauty.
One of the must-visit museums in London.

An unmissable in London and “free of charge” in addition! - If you’re passionate about art, or just open to discovery, it’s really a must-see in London. Plus it’s free. So you can come back to it several times (impossible to see everything in a day). An application that can be downloaded to your phone allows you not to miss the most famous paintings. The app is paid for (five pounds) but it is worth it. Rooms 41 to 46 are the most accessible for art history beginners like me.

The best place ever! - A lot of paintings my daughter does GCSE art and we bought her here strictly for academics. She got A star because of those beautiful photos! Truly an experience we won't forget.

A journey into art. - The collections are impressive, especially the works of Van Gogh and Monet that captivated us. The architecture of the building is majestic. We strongly recommend to reserve at least 3 hours to enjoy this exceptional museum. Free admission is a real plus!

Art lovers' paradise - Our trip to the National Gallery was a feast for the eyes. We wandered through rooms filled with masterpieces, from Van Gogh to Monet. While it was a bit overwhelming, we enjoyed discovering art together. However, the crowds made it hard to fully appreciate some pieces.

Incredible history - Incredible artwork history! It's not often when you see a real Picasso and Van Gogh painting in front of you. Not just them, hundreds of other incredible art. Highly recommended.

Poor visit to paid exhibition - We visited the Van Gogh exhibition costing £26 each, far too many people had been admitted and ruined the visit, the NG is being greedy, and not allowing paid entry customers to properly appreciate the art,

Leadership have ruined this place - Once this was a fantastic place. You could pop in and out and spend some quiet time in front of any or all paintings stress free.
Now?
The Management have ruined the place.
In a knee-jerk reaction to the vandals they have introduced terrible security checks with just two scanners (sometimes only one works) and craaaaazily stringent measures e.g. no fluids at all. The queues to get in are horrendous.
If you bring water, you'll have to tip it all away. And then go searching in vain for anywhere to refill it. You'll be made to pay for bottles at the cafe, after queuing of course.
And then they run further checks within the gallery e.g. in and out of toilets and in and out of cafes. It's a nightmare.
The van Gogh exhibition just makes matters worse. Great paintings, of course, but almost impossible to see them because of the crowds that Management have jemmied into the gallery in order to rake in the loot (at £30 a time) without ANY concessions. Most places now have discounts for seniors, disabled, those on UC etc. Not the mean minded and thieving top brass at the National Gallery.
Then there are the security guards. It feels like you're in a high grade prison with nasty looking and constantly suspicious heavyweight bouncers everywhere.
Oh and don't you dare so much as show your own food or drink near one of the cafes or some nasty little officious person will berate you - even if you are drinking their beverages.
I visit galleries and museums all over the world and this is now the most unpleasant to visit.
Kind-of symbolic of the the downturn in Britain generally.
Bravo National Gallery Management: you've literally ruined one of the best things about Britain.

Missed my tour because meeting point was not mentioned - They never specified where to meet. i reached 5 mins early as well but couldnt figure where to find the group. I kept trying to contact the people but no one picked up. Got a hour later there was an additional contact feature that appear and I was finally able to contact someone but she didn’t really help. Very disappointed. Now they won’t offer a refund. Either they are not aware that people can’t see the pick up point because I search every part of the app and nothing was visible other than the Gallery entrance
