Oxford & Cambridge Universities Tour: Explore Dreamy Spires, Iconic Buildings, and Christ Church

Start your day journeying through the Chiltern Hills to Oxford, also known as the ‘City of Dreaming Spires’. All the highlights with time to explore - Sandra was an excellent guide! She was so informative and humorous at the perfect time. We were given ample time to explore, after being given an excellent tour of the most important spots in Cambridge and Oxford. Would do this tour again.

An hour and a half wasted and little left for the towns - We just did this tour. 3 stars, only thanks to the beauty of the towns. Started with wasting one whole hour the driver browsing the South bank and going back(!) to Tower bridge to basically restart the tour (no other reason than to cater to a few who couldn't hop on a regular bus to see the bridge). 10 am, we were still in central London. This hour of pointless circling was taken from the Cambridge time. If we wanted a tour of London, we would had booked such. The rest of the day was squeezed with time reduced in Cambridge and Oxford to a very insufficient 1 and 1.2 hours respectively. Then from Cambridge , instead of taking the highway, the driver took the country roads towards Northampton and added another half an hour to the travel time. Given that we had to follow the guide upon arrival and not walk on our own, we ended up with 50 minutes for Christ Church and anything else we wanted to see in Oxford. Of course, we could see nothing. As well, talking was done in two languages, also unexpected. Nothing wrong per se but quite overwhelming in person. To top it all, there was a 200MB(!!) limit of the wifi on the bus to which inquiry the guide declared that's how the company set it up. There was no such limit on our other Evan Evans tour buses but nothing was done to address this. That's not 'free' wifi in 2024. It didn't suffice to just load location Maps one way. Overall, not recommending this tour as is and especially not at this quite high price. Between terrible planning and bad driving, it was a waste of time and money. Even for newbies to London, a way better choice would be a train from Victoria or Paddington and as much time as you wish in either town or doing them separately. The cost would be half, or less. Trains are fast, often and convenient. Oh, and have actual free WiFi, unlimited.

Disappointed - Although the tour guide was knowledgeable, we felt rushed on the tour. We felt especially rushed in Cambridge. We barely had time to use the restroom and no time to eat let alone shop. And it was the same in Oxford. I don't feel it was the guide's fault. She did her best with the time allotted her. I recommend if you really want to see these two cities that they should be two separate tours.
