This captivating theatrical journey brings Shakespeare’s life and work back to its origins. Guided by a professional actor, participants will start at Mansion House Tube, cross Southwark Bridge to admire the iconic Globe Theatre, and then traverse the Millennium Bridge to explore the Globe’s history back to its birthplace in Shoreditch, visiting significant sites of the Elizabethan Renaissance Theatre along the way. A player guide will share the history of the first British playhouses and perform relevant Shakespearean speeches at key locations. This experience is rich with history, literature, theatricality, comedy, tragedy, fact, fiction, and drama, featuring modern sights and sounds, cultural references, and stunning street art in Shoreditch. It includes an exciting passage through the Barbican Estate, crossing various boundaries, with approximately 2 hours of walking (depending on pace) and a 20-minute break at the Barbican Arts Centre, home to The Royal Shakespeare Company, concluding at New Inn Yard, Shoreditch.
