Encounter madams of brothels, grave robbers, and kind-hearted doctors on a one hour and forty-five minute walk through the narrow streets and past the historic townhouses of Soho’s square mile. Learn the origin of Soho’s name, the fate of murderers post-execution, and the story of a courageous doctor who played detective to uncover the cause of 500 cholera deaths within a few streets over two weeks in 1854. Our journey covers just over a mile of Soho, from a workhouse to a picnic spot hiding a secret, to London’s first anatomy school. We’ll also visit the sites of the city’s earliest specialty hospitals that treated women, children, and those afflicted with the ‘foul’ disease. Expect some historical and tasteful sexual content, as well as a bit of gore. The experience will be both humorous and poignant, often simultaneously.
- This tour does have some sexual references and may not be suitable for young children.
- This tour has some gory references to dead bodies and operations
