Entertaining history you don’t hear elsewhere - A fun tour to do solo or couple or family (not for small kids tho). Our guide Mary was very knowledgeable, clear and loud (it’s an outdoor tour!) with some acting skills. This tour will also save you money on dinner as you won’t have much of an appetite afterwards! A fantastic evening walk full of historical facts told in a hanging and poignant way! - We sincerely enjoyed the walk through this neighborhood. Mary was a wonderful storyteller, who told all the stories funny, poignant and very exciting. She had a blissful never ending energy and she told loud and clear, which was fantastic for us as foreigners! My 12-year-old daughter could also follow all the stories well. The evening was very interactive on several levels. Mary let us think along critically, she was assisted by multiple ‘characters’ so that we were dragged much more into the past and we could ask her anything. It was special to learn more about the former London and what it was like for many people to live here. We have learned a lot and we can be happy to be born in the present time. Mary clearly knows history inside out, and we hung on her lips with every story she had to tell us. Also the fellow player who appeared occasionally was beautiful to listen to. We are now looking at London with an extra look, and certainly with a different look at pigs 😅. Thank you very much Mary! Really an absolute must!

Entertaining, gruesome …. I didn’t have bacon for breakfast! - This was a great, fun but grisly walk led by the appropriately attired Mary B, and joined at different stages by various unfortunate characters, all really well played by her lovely colleague. Our tickets were timed 7.30 pm - 10.30 pm so I thought we’d booked a different performance as this one finished at 9.30. It didn’t spoil the evening at all though. Mary B spoke clearly and could easily be heard above the street noise. She certainly knew her sh*t 🫣! Having never given much thought to life in early London, there was much to learn. The walk was not strenuous at all and was well-paced, with plenty of stops and chance for a quick sit down here and there if you need it. Some of the descriptions were gross of necessity. Some of the language was choice but necessary from historical language perspective, and we were warned! All in all a fascinating, fun and gory glimpse into Southwark’s history. No - I didn’t have bacon for breakfast this morning!

Interesting and entertaining - Very interesting and entertaining history tour. The leader was very engaged and animated about the stories she was telling. Would definitely recommend if you want to find out more about the working class or lower class and how they live.

Highly recommend - Excellent tour. See London though a different lens. Went with a friend & spent an enjoyable 2 hours on this tour. The guide was engaging & had a great energy. The other bonus is that you are in a great location for drinks or food after. I would happily recommend this tour

Horrible History can be fun! - Very entertaining and surprisingly informative. It will truly make you glad to be born when you were because the past was really appalling. Highly recommended.

Very recommendable! - I loved the tour, the guide and the actors. Very interesting insides to the lives of the poor and normal people in the beginnings of the area around London. I had a lot of fun even with the very dark and very dirty stories about the past.

Horrible Histories Fascinating Facts - Some very interesting history put across in a humourous way. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Each stop was more grotesque than the previous so not for the faint hearted or children. We walked about 4km in total and this took just under two hours.
