Highlights
  • Westminster Bridge - Painted green for the Houses of Commons, visit the bridge where WW2 bombs are still discovered to this day.
    Visited outside

  • Houses of Parliament - As the centre of British government, hear how parliament reacted to the looming threat from the Third Reich as the bell of Big Ben went quiet and the planes of the Luftwaffe filled the skies over London.
    Visited outside.

  • Parliament Square - With statues of icons from Mahatma Gandhi and Millicent Fawcett to Honest Abe, this square celebrates democracy in all its forms- something that was never so important as through the dark days of WW2.
    Visiting outside

  • Westminster Abbey - Dream of the last Anglo-Saxon king and a flagship of the Church of England, your guide will talk you through how this great abbey survived the Blitz with help from some local heroes.
    Visiting outside

  • Whitehall - Home to the Ministry of Defence, Whitehall played a key role in the drama of WW2. Visit both the Cenotaph and Women in WW2 monuments to pay your respects to the brave men and women who laid down their lives for our freedom.
    Visiting outside

  • Horse Guards Parade at Whitehall - The prime spot to get your photo with the mounted cavalry of the Queen’s Horseguards and official entrance to Buckingham Palace itself.

Additional Information

Step back in time to the 1940s. The chiming of Big Ben is replaced by frequent air-raid sirens. Nightly German aerial attacks are commonplace. Daily life is constrained by rationings and limitations. Many brave citizens of Great Britain sacrifice their lives on European soil and beyond.

Guided by a local expert, you’ll remain steady and persist, gaining insight into the British resilience and uncovering realities about Westminster during the years of conflict on this pedestrian exploration that includes significant landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, the Cenotaph, Ministry of War, 10 Downing Street, and Whitehall.

The excursion concludes outside Churchill’s War Rooms, the underground command center where Winston Churchill and his cabinet managed their contributions to World War II – unchanged over time and waiting to be explored anew.

  • Entrance to Westminster Abbey NOT included

Fabulous tour with Nathan! - We had a great walking tour yesterday with our guide Nathan. He was very informative, funny and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend. The tour didn’t require a long walk - but it was alot of standing. Ended in the Churchill War room which had a ton of information and a break if needed!

Must experience tour on Churchill! - Richard was an OUTSTANDING guide. He had so much enthusiasm and knowledge. The tour helped to give context to everything we would see in the Churchill War Room. I would definitely recommend this tour rather than just go to the war room alone. Richard was GREAT! He is such a gentleman and very helpful!

David was excellent, knowledgeable, funny! Would highly recommend this tour - David was an excellent guide, knowledgeable and funny, and a former real life bobby too! With a medal to boot! He gave all the interesting tidbits about Churchill so much so that when I went to the war rooms, I felt I already knew all the stuff I was interested in.

It’s ok - Meeting location terrible. Extremely busy corner. Hard to find guide with a tiny faded flag. Some interesting stories but seemed like some time fillers as well.
