- Rethymnon Prefecture - Here you have a coffee and toilet break, later it goes for another 30 min directly to the parking slot of Preveli
- Preveli Beach - You arrive around 12 a.m. at the beach of Preveli, which is certainly the most famous beach in South Crete, accepting thousands of visitors every summer. During the \’60s and \’70s, it was a favorite destination for the hippies. On the banks of the Grand River there is a large colony of Theophrastus palm trees, which give the region a sense of a tropical landscape. This is the second largest palm forest of Crete, after the palm forest of Vai. The river forms a small lake, 500m long, before emptying into the sea. You can walk along the river, under the shade of palm trees, and start ascending in the beautiful canyon. At the exit of the river, a beautiful beach with pebbles and sand is formed. Moreover, in the eastern part of the beach, there is a beautiful rock which looks like a heart. Here, you will have plenty of free time to enjoy swimming in the turquoise waters, to sunbathe under the warm sun and to explore this tropical and very unique landscape.

Experience a comfortable bus ride from Heraklion to Preveli Beach and have the liberty to discover the scenic surroundings. As your journey progresses, feast your mind on the geological and historical backdrop of Southern Crete. The bus halts at the nearest parking to the beach, from where a path leads you down to the beach. This parking area is located close to the majestic vertical cliffs offering picture-perfect sights. Descend nearly 400 steps down a footpath to reach the beach, a walk of about 15 minutes. Take a leisurely stroll through the Palm Forest abundant with exotic Theophrastus palms, vibrant flowers, and diverse fauna. The unrivaled ambiance of the forest is captivating and enriching. Snapshot the racing Grand River and the imposing cliffs of the Kourtaliotikos Gorge and enjoy a soothing waterfall bath at the mouth of the gorge. As you return to the beach by footpath alongside the river, rejuvenate with a cool drink at the Preveli bar. After spending about 4 hours of quality leisure time at the beach, it’s time to bid adieu to the scenic beauty and head back to Heraklion.
