Amazing trip - The tour guide Sylvia was fantastic and made sure everyone was ok, walking down the gorge was beutiful and can be done in your own pace but you still need to have some small fitness about you. Would do this again if I come back to Crete.

Beautiful day! - The day started off with a bus trip to the Gorge, with some explanation by the guide which was greatly appreciated. The Gorge itself is a beautiful hike, and loved the swim in the bay of Sfakia. Thank you to the operator for adding us last minute!

Great hike! - The tour guide gave a lot of information during the bus ride, which was greatly appreciated. The hike through the gorge was very beautiful, and took about 2 hours. Also enjoyed the swim in the small bay afterwards. Great day, would certainly do it again!

Easy hike in beautiful surroundings, well-organised by tour operator. - Great day out, Imbros Gorge was stunning and the water at Chora Sfakion was crystal clear (but cold in April). The walk wasn't strenuous, being a fairly gentle downhill the whole way, but the path is rocky. Most in our group managed fine in trainers but I was glad to have proper boots at times. With 40 people on the tour hotel pickups had the potential to be a drag, but the company picked half of us up on a minibus and joined up with the main coach outside the city which mitigated that. I ate at the taverna recommended by the guide at the end of the trail, food was good with nice views out over the sea.

GOOD CHALLENGING WALK - Reviewed the videos on You Tube prior to doing this walk which looked to be one that could be done by both young and elderly as advertised. Our trip was the 7.5 kilometer stretch from the main entrance to the beach via a coach trip. The guide was Ingrid who was extremely informative. There are toilets at the start of the walk and a steep set of steps down to the gorge with unsteady wooden railings. Payment was 2.5 euros per person at the hut at the start and the tickets need to be retained for inspection at the conclusion of the walk. Walk downhill most of the way which was described as being on largely shingle but in fact was on large boulders at certain parts of the walk. If conditions are dry it is ok but we had a thunderstorm with rain that made some parts very tricky and slippery even with walking boots and nordic poles as we had! Some step downs are high and need to be taken with extreme care. You are warned prior to the walk that medical conditions come into play along with any disability or issues a comment which made us chuckle if injuries occur the only way out is by donkey or stretcher! Although both of us fall into the elderly category we completed the walk well inside the allocated time of 3 hours. The negative being that we were unable to comprehand the outstanding beauty of the gorge and the ability to take photographs due to the need to exercise extreme care. If you really have any major issues with ankles, knees, hips or lower back this needs to be thought through before considering the walk.

Gorgeous Gorge but don’t book on Viator - Great day out. Pick up (~50 people) was slow but normal for such a large tour. Very organised and everyone was respectful of time, which helps. Beautiful gorge and perfect stop at Sfakia to finish the day. Recommend as an active day out but don’t book via viator as trip ended up costing us 20% more than the people paying on the bus.

Amazing gorge nice village sfakia - Vasilis was a great guide who knows many interesting things about Crete. The gorge was amazing an pick up from our hotel went without problems. But the time in Sfakia was too short!

Disappointed - Hiking boots for sure as it would be very easy to twist an ankle with runners. Unfortunately spend just all the time looking where one was walking instead of the views. At the end of the walk the people who run the bus n taxi services plus store just want your money and don’t give the correct information. Make sure you know before you start hike what you’re going to do after finishing walk.
