Imbros Gorge Tour: Crete's Accessible Scenic Walk

The Imbros Gorge is the runner-up in popularity for hikers in Crete, coming after the Samaria Gorge. Its appeal mostly lies in its relatively easier walking path compared to Samaria. Furthermore, reaching the Imbros Gorge is simpler, and although it falls short in size when compared to Samaria, it doesn’t lack in striking landscapes.

easy beautifull trail - recomended for beginners and /or easy-goings - The Gorge is quite a simple yet beautifull one, with a rather flat terrain and very doable for almost anyone. Good shoes are anyhow recommended, since there are plenty or loose stones and gravel; water can be taken with but also purchased at the "Taverna" near the entrace - where they serve a delicius Sfakiani Pita - goat cheese flat-bread pie with honey. The trail can be done in some 2.5 hours or less, but is worth taking the time to appreciate the sights. Afterwards, the bus picks you up to the Sfakia village where food seemed delicious as well, and the small secluded beach is definetily worth a visit (the CG-blue of the bottom is amazing!!!). The return is around 1630 - 1700 at the location of pick up - for us one block away from our hotel. It's a very recommended plan for the day.
