- The Basilica of Agios Stefanos - Established in 1512, the monks of the Monastery of Agios Stefanos live in abstinence from material possessions to serve God and humanity. Agios Stefanos is a stunning location with untouched nature, surrounded by lush vegetation and offering a vast view of the Aegean Sea. The monastery is known for its neocharismatic worship and monastic community, founded in 1512 by monks of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Some believe it to be the oldest monastery in Greece, with its foundations dating back to 1048 AD.
- The Great Meteoron Holy Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Saviour - The largest of the monasteries at the highest point of Meteora, the Monastery of Grand (or Megalo) Meteoron was founded around 1340 by monk Athanasios. It is one of the most significant historical monuments in Kalambaka, located on a hill overlooking the city. Founded by Tsar Ivan Kaloyanov in the 14th century, it was built on a site where a church dedicated to St. Nicholas had existed since the 10th century. The monastery was abandoned after Turkish rule ended in 1821 and has since been restored. The Monastery of Grand Meteoron exemplifies the rich decoration and impressive architecture of churches built here. The main church of the monastery, dedicated to the Holy Trinity, was built in the 14th century and reconstructed in 1821.
- Monastery of Varlaam - The Monastery of St. Varlaam is an Eastern Orthodox monastery that is part of the Meteora monastery complex in Thessaly, central Greece. It is situated atop a rocky precipice, 900 meters above sea level, surrounded by forests and open to the sky. The monastery is under the jurisdiction of Mount Athos. Named after a monk who passed away on this spot in June 1336 during a great storm, an icon of Saint Varlaam was discovered here in 1743, beneath an icon of Saint John the Forerunner. The monastery was established in 1765 by Abbot Ioannina of Karyes.
- Lake Plastira - Lake Plastira is an artificial lake created to collect water for nearby farms. It offers many picturesque natural views. The surrounding area is known for its stunning scenery and serenity, making it ideal for a scenic retreat. The lake is a popular fishing spot and provides opportunities for water sports enthusiasts. The landscape of the surrounding area is hilly and wooded, with many small towns in close proximity, such as Kalamitsi, Xylokastro, Kallithea, and Kalatas. The distance from the lake to Athens is about 500 km. The lake is a long, narrow basin formed by the river from the Rioni and Xylohronos mountain ranges, which meet at its easternmost point.
