The hiking tour begins at St. Nicolas Monastery in Kastraki village, tracing the ancient paths once used by monks, which meander among the towering rock formations.
The route takes us beneath the ruins of the Pantocrator Monastery on the northern side of Dupiani rock. The trail then leads into the heart of a verdant forest, reaching the restored Monastery of “Ipapanti” and the ruins of St. Dimitrios. A brief hike brings us to the Varlaam and Great Meteoro monasteries, where one can be visited.
We return to Kastraki via the ancient monk’s path, passing by the cave of St. George Mandila.
During the hike, there is a chance to see climbers scaling the rocks.
Please note: Meteora monasteries enforce a strict dress code. Women must wear a long skirt, dress, or sarong, as covering the knees with trousers or shorts is insufficient. However, wrap skirts are available at the monastery entrances. Shoulders should also be covered.
