Derinkuyu, meaning “deep well” in Turkish, has eight underground floors and extends 55.5 meters deep, featuring rooms for livestock, storage, dining, kitchens, wine cellars, a church, a missionary school, a confessional, and a font. The ancient ventilation shafts still function, and the tunnels and halls are well-lit.
Ihlara Valley - Ihlara is a stone canyon that splits the plain into two “banks” like a deep ravine, stretching about 14 kilometers and reaching depths of up to 150 meters in some areas. The Melendiz River flows along the bottom. Ihlara served as a refuge for Christian monks, with numerous rock-cut churches and residential caves. The walking tour through the valley covers 3.5 km.
