Tasty and Educational - This tour was educational and interactive and we had a lot of fun during it. Highly recommend Tio Leo!
There was ample parking and space for the tour group. We went over an informative lesson on coffee production, then got to taste different coffees. Our tour included making an authentic empanada, grinding and tasting fresh roasted cocoa, trying freshly squeezed sugar cane, and then a relaxing walk through a lush orchard of coffee, cacao, and many other fruits and plants.
Everyone was polite and helpful. Also, a great souvenir shop is here. Muchas gracias Tio Leo and everyone there!

Amazing experience at coffee pantation and Nicaragua day tour. - Traveling with 2 teenage kids from New York.Highly recommend this place, delicious empanadas we made.( best I ever had). Fried plantanas and star fruit juice was so yummy.
We also wanted to visit Nicaragua and the owner recommended a tour guy , Eric, very serious company and the day trip to Nicaragua ( Granada and other cities, boat tour, carriage horse ride, breakfast,lunch….., water vulcano , chocolate Factory, Cigar shop..and more)… it was amazing also.
Everything was so well organized and smooth. Very safe, beautiful memories!
Probably if there will be more then 5 Stars, I will give them more to both companies.
Beside Coffee Plantation, I highly recommend a private day trip in Nicaragua with Eric. .

A Unbeatable Experience - My husband and I booked a Tio Leo coffee tour while we were still in Canada, and we are so glad we did. Excursion sellers will claim that the coffee tours included in package tours would be better. After our Tio Leo tour, we did an excursion and it only included a 45-minute surface level tour on coffee, cocoa, and sugar cane. In contrast, our tour with Tio Leo was in-depth, lasting almost 3 hours, and it flew by! Tio Leo offers an authentic experience, filled with history about coffee, cocoa, and sugar cane. In addition to tasting coffee, cocoa milk, and hot cocoa, and drinking sugar cane juice, you also get to try cocoa beans and make empanadas.
The tours typically run with 4 people, but we got lucky as the other couple didn’t show up, so we had a private experience! There's no doubt that we will be coming back to see Tio Leo and his team! (Pacifico! :D)

Loved it. Family owned. - Great. We had a private cooking class and made empanadas with my 9 year old daughter. And learned about coffee as well! Took 40 mins.

Hidden Gem of coffee, chocolate and more! - The TÃo Leo coffee tour was so much better than we could have imagined. The time Tio Leo and his team spent with us made us feel like it was a private visit just for us. His calm and educational approach was engaging and enjoyable. We did SO many activities from learning about the origins of coffee farming in Costa Rica to shaping and making our own empanadas, walking through his private farm filled with so many different fruit trees and coffee plants, toasting and tasting chocolate to drinking sugarcane water. I learned so much and had such fun I would definitely return again. It was a great excursion for our family that ranged from 15 to an octogenarian. ¡Thank you TÃo Leo team!

Educational and fun - Too Leo conducts the tour himself, together with his helpers. Activities include not only many opportunities to taste coffee but also a cooking class (making empanadas and chocolate drinks) and a sugarcane demonstration. My favorite part was the tour of the farm itself: Tio Leo shared a lot about his novel sustainable practices which allow him to adapt coffee in Guahacaste, combating climate change. A wonderful activity that does run on Costa Rican time: plan to spend the whole afternoon there and enjoy every minute of it.

Excellent Coffee and Chocolate Tour - I looked at Tio Leo before arriving in Costa Rica and found that it exceeded my expectations. The company is well informed, excellent tour guides, and with very kind people. They have a garden of so many different trees- coffee, cocoa, lime, mango, star fruit, estivia, banana, plantain, avocado, etc. The coffee is the most silky with high caffeine. They demonstrated grinding and roasting. They support the local people of their area. The employees have worked there for years and love the owners.

Best Coffee and Chocolate experience in Costa Rica - One of the best educational experiences we had in Costa Rica! The coffee was outstanding. We wandered through the immediate grounds learning about the different fruits etc that grow there.
We had a cooking class and made empanadas which were so delicious. We had a lesson in chocolate from the history to the current manufacturing. The hot chocolate was so yummy. Finally we learned about sugar cane and used a can press older than 120 yrs old.
We had the opportunity to taste various coffees and then purchase them for our trip home.
Leo was an outstanding teacher and guide. We highly recommend signing up for this experience when you are in Liberia Costa Rica
