Beautiful Views with an Excellent Guide - I traveled with two friends, and we wanted to do a mild hike around Lake Atitlan. This activity is perfect: 2-3 hours along beautiful shores of the lake, stopping by a series of towns, and exploring different ecosystems. Salvador was not only very nice, but very knowledgeable about the area. He explained to us the origins of the lake, the different characteristics of volcanoes in Guatemala, and answered all of our questions about the country, culture, and daily life in it. I definitely recommend doing an activity with him, if you want to spend time outdoors and simultaneously get to know more about Guatemalan and Mayan culture. The hike starts at Santa Cruz and end in San Marcos, a travel destination known for its spirituality and yoga activities. All of the towns were beautiful, and we definitely enjoyed getting to use the boats around the lake as transportation.
