Sunrise Tour - We booked the sunrise tour and can not recommend this tour company more highly. Marlon is a fantastic guide, very accommodating, friendly and easy to get along with. We were greeted at our hotel and driven to Tikal, given coffee and home made cookies. His English is fantastic and his knowledge about both the forest and the Mayan culture is second to none. His passion for nature, the environment and the Mayan culture shines through the whole tour. We were able to cover almost the full area (covered about 9-10km of walking) including some very quite less known areas and paths. We had a home prepared yummy Mayan breakfast after sunrise while sitting up high over the tree canopy listen to the Jungle wake up. Not only did Marlon tell us so many interesting facts about the culture but was able to answer all of my questions through the day and we had a wonderful free flowing conversation throughout the full tour. He was quick to pick out all the different wildlife including animals, plants and insects and which just beamed enthusiasm. The food at the end of the tour was also lovely! We couldn't recommend Marlon more highly, above and beyond.

Interesting and informative tour - It was an interesting and informative tour, Henry had answered all our questions, it all worked out great . Due to this early time we were almost alone in the park.. unfortunately it rained almost continuously, so we had no real “sunrise”. Our tip... Rainwear and sturdy shoes for the park

Fantastic tour - Marlon was a fantastic and knowledgeable guide, everything went very smoothly and efficiently. He brought homemade breakfast to share during sunrise, pointed out monkeys and toucans up in the trees, and his joy for sharing facts about the history and architecture of Tikal made the experience so fun.

Fantastic Sunrise Tour of Tikal - Fantastic sunrise tour of the Tikal site. Guide was extremely well versed, accommodating, and adjusted the pace for our age 60+. We were able to see over 10 different types of birds, spider & howler monkeys, Coatimundi, baby fer-de-lance snake, etc. our guide spotted the snake in the dark with his keen eyes and flashlight. Also, he is probably the only guide who carries antivenom. His electric SUV is new. He has the nicest vehicles of any guide in all of Central America. Top notch.

Outstanding! - We joined the sunrise tour and had an amazing time at the Tikal national park. Marlon is a highly knowledgeable and professional guide. He created an unique experience. Not only we got insights into the impressive ancient Mayan world but also Marlon shared fascinating facts about wildlife and the Guatemalan culture. He even arranged some refreshments now and then with tasty home-made snacks. We truly enjoyed the tour and highly recommend it to everyone!

History/Nature Lovers Listen up! - Marlon was an excellent guide. You can tell he really cares about the history and preservation of the Mayan Culture. Everything was really detailed from the breakfast, hiking, facts and lunch. Would highly recommend!! FYI there is like a 15% chance you actually get to see the sunrise, but don’t get discouraged you get to see the jungle wake up in the morning even without the sun. And there are so many mosquitoes, even during the day! So come prepared

Awaken your senses and deepen your knowledge - Gem Trips led by Marlon is a one in a lifetime experience. I highly recommend this small family owned company for your educational journey through the Maya ruins of Tikal. Marlon’s certifications and master’s degree in addition to his 20 plus years of guiding tours in Tikal sets his bar as a guide very high. His knowledge, ability to story-tell, and his hospitality will keep you in a place of wonder, joy and appreciation for the duration of your trip. I am super grateful I booked my experience through gem tours.

Lots of information about Tikal - This was a great tour to learn a lot about Mayan civilization and the local environment. Marlon is incredibly knowledgeable and this would be the perfect tour if you are curious and really want to learn about the history of Tikal! We also saw toucans, spider monkeys, coati, and lots of other birds. There was plenty of yummy food and bug spray.
