This “U”-shaped cave extends 240 meters deep, requiring a 500-meter walk inside, taking about an hour to explore. Located 7 kilometers northwest of downtown Guilin, Reed Flute Cave is a must-see on most travel itineraries. Inside, visitors will find a stunning array of stalactites, stone pillars, and rock formations formed by carbonate deposition. The cave, illuminated by colorful lights, is often described as a natural art palace. Tickets can be purchased on-site with a passport for CNY90 per person.

• Daxu Old Town - The second destination is Daxu Ancient Town, a one-hour drive from Reed Flute Cave. Situated on the east bank of the Li River, 23 km (14.3 miles) southeast of Guilin City, this town boasts a history of over 1000 years, originating in the early Northern Song Dynasty. It was one of the four renowned ancient towns in Guangxi Province 600 years ago.

Notable historical sites include the Gaozu Temple, the Hanhuang Temple from the Qing Dynasty, assembly halls, and a two-kilometer-long bluestone street lined with well-preserved buildings.

A visit to the Longevity Bridge, built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), is essential. This stone arch bridge, with its natural and simple beauty, offers a perfect spot to enjoy the scenic Li River. The visit takes about an hour.

• Li River - After exploring Daxu Ancient Town, a 1.5-hour drive leads to Yangdi Pier. From there, guests will take a one-hour electric bamboo boat ride to Nine Horses Hill Dock, a highlight of the Li River. The landscape, resembling an artist’s masterpiece, features striking hills, steep cliffs, fascinating caves, and farming villages, all lined with bamboo. A Chinese poem describes it as “The river is a green silk ribbon, and the hills are jade hairpins.” The cost is CNY140 per person, with tickets purchased on-site using passports. Each bamboo raft accommodates up to 4 people.

• Xianggong Hill - After the cruise, a 20-minute drive will take guests to Xianggong Hill in Yangshuo, a renowned scenic spot offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Li River’s iconic karst landscape. • Impression Sanjie Liu - At 7:30 pm, guests will be taken to a natural theater that uses the Li River as its stage, with twelve mist-shrouded hills and the sky as its backdrop. This theater is located on the river’s natural islands, with valleys, hills, a cool breeze, and gurgling streams contributing to the three-dimensional sound effect. Each performance offers a unique experience, embodying a new concept of opera that integrates nature as part of its performance, hence the name ‘Human’s Masterpiece Cooperated with the God’. After the show, guests will return to their hotel in Guilin around 10:30 pm. The admission fee is CNY328 per person.
